Not A Country Boy

Poem

I found my old poem notebook, I wrote this when I was 15

I remember it wrote it about my ex boyfriend when I was a freshman after he had started dating a girl who lived in a rural area (she was so nice i have no idea how they ended up together) and he entered a sort of cowboy-boot-wearing poser phase (he's from the suburbs) This was kinda a joking poem, my friend and I were laughing about the whole situation as I wrote it. Good times.

Degraded fashion Disgusted with this discussion of fabric Telling a tale of dust stalls, manure, work gloves You have never left pavement. Touched no animal but a dog. Sneakers, boots, or something in between. How are they worn in? Jeans clinging in all the wrong places. Looking rough as the Texas steppes Your hoodies are the smell of mushy portabella mushrooms And the bottom of a laundry basket.
