Coinbase delay when using bitpay to pay merchant

Total noob here...I was trying to use Coinbase through bitpay to pay for tickets at AMC. At the last step it showed error and I got an email from Coinbase suggesting a 72 hour delay because I didn't verify. So I went ahead verified and retried two more times but same thing happened. Finally that AMC checkout session expired, and I had to click through checkout again but this time I paid directly through bitcoin network and it worked.

A moment later Coinbase showed all three of my previously delayed transactions went through (showing [email protected] as recipient). Now I have no idea where those coins had gone and how to get them back. Contacted Coinbase and apparent they cannot do anything.

Looking for suggestions here...I'm assuming they all went to bitpay's account and I should contact bitpay to ask for refund? I created a ticket through their automated chat bot and will see what they say.

If the coins went to bitpay, then they have the coins and you should be able to get them to reverse it.

I had something similar happen but the multi transactions faded away after a few days and the coins returned

Thanks. I contacted BitPay and provided transaction details. BitPay replied and told they will refund me.
