Making a Resume: worth it or not?

So as you guys know some colleges ask for your resume. I was talking to my friend about this and he said you should only give them one if you have a significant detail that you couldn’t fit on the CommonApp. I managed to fit pretty much everything on the CommonApp except like 1 minor thing so my resume is 90% repeated information. So that being said, should I submit one? Would it hurt me because it would annoy the admissions officers, or help me because I can describe my activities with more detail?

Also, how are you guys formatting it? My cousin who goes to Duke showed me hers and it was simple bullet points but I’ve seen professional resume templates and idk if I should do those.
