Ketracel event store dillema - as a completely F2P player (Ops 21)

So I am short 33K to get Gul Dukat. I'm now wondering when we would see him back in an event store or other means of getting him.

Would it be wise to still dump 435k into his shards and pray he comes around? I'm planning to get Saladin and D4 so an Interceptor strike team does sound really good to me.

There will be more opportunities for Gul Dukat. Just like all the officers. When and how, no one could tell you. If spending your currency won’t unlock him, use it for something that will impact/improve your game now. You should be able to unlock the other cardassian officers if you don’t have them yet. Ship blueprints would be good. Syndicate XP might raise your rep enough to realize immediate boots.

Dukat's officer ability doesnt actually do anything on the Saladin or D4 because their firing pattern is 1 shot per weapon. His 25% bonus makes them fire 1.25 times, which the game rounds down to 1.0.

At rank 3, its a 35% increase to the number of shots, so on a D4 you get 2.7 shots per round, which the game rounds up to 3 shots. Where Dukat really shines is on the Pilum with its plethora of shots on each weapon.

Until you get him ranked up and onto a ship which can use him, all he does is guarantees Garak and Damar can use their officer abilities. If you've been able to source Garak and Damar already, then the full crew does work even on ships without Dukats extra shots; buffing your own crit chance and reducing in opponent crits is never a bad thing.

Typical bloody Scopely and their inability to write a accurate crew descriptions. Thanks u/garrettj100 for the info.

If you are close to unlocking Sisko, get him. The most commonly recommended armada crews contain 5 of 11 and Khan, well Sisko is those two officers rolled into one and then buffed even higher. On an Enterprise, you essentially have a 5 member crew by running Sisko with Kirk, giving you morale, shield restore, mitigation and crits, plus having another crew slot still available.

Alternatively, spend your event currency on ship blueprints not easily obtainable; Discovery is a must have ship really, North Star is an excellent combat ship (no joke), the D'vor is ops 23 but may be available in your store already, or if you upgrade to ops 22 before the event ends.

This is not correct. Per the text of Gul Dukat:

When shot while on an Interceptor fighting a player ship with Hull Breach, Gul Dukat increases the number of shots by 25% once per Weapon for 5 rounds.

The bonus lasts for 5 rounds and it stacks. This isn't me speculating, this is me running the test with the crew. By the time round 4 rolled around and the big gun had reloaded, it fired three times. Stacking +25% every time your ship gets hit is a lot of extra shots, even if it doesn't do much in the very first round.

It doesn't say anything about stacking. It says 'when shot' and not every time hit by an opponents weapons. It even specifies 'once per Weapon' for five rounds.

Everything suggests its just 1.25 times per round for each weapon..... typical Scopely and their misleading crew skill descriptions!

Not for nothing, but all the Strike Team officers stack. You'll have to take my word for it, but ST: La'An also grants multiple shots, as does Weyoun, though I don't run Weyoun as captain: 8 rounds isn't long enough for most fights.

Dive hard into syndicate and away teams. At L21, disco is avail in the weekly cosmic cleanup but is a necessary ship as you level. Away teams dump heavily into the pink dudes. Nero, Gorkon, Charvanek, Mitchell, Kras, Burnham. Those guys go out constantly st higher levels, and Nero is the cheapest way to get enough away teams shuttles to get your Saladin and Enterprise (or other factions).

You can also never ever go wrong with crew. At 21, way more useful to spend on the pink crew shards and get 10 shards at a time than buying a few dukat or garak shards.

You want your crews levelled as soon as possible, but pvp at L21 is really less vital than having more flexibility

Completely new to game. What do mean about dive hard into away teams and away teams dump into epics. Not sure how away teams goes to getting epics

There are four important away team missions because they come up often, and give good rewards.

Crits give -- Lead expedition gives AT credits. You need Nero for his traits. Research and development gives Fed credits. You need carol's traits. Address the high council. Needs Gorkon. I forget the name of the romulan mission now, but that needs Charvanek's traits.

Lead expedition gives ~5k AT credits when you crit, and the other missions give ~650 faction credits per crit. So critting on one of these missions gives at least 1/2 of an epic ship BP.

Here's a comprehensive list of the traits officers have, the possible missions and their rewards. https://ncc1887.blogspot.com/2021/09/tng-6-officer-traits.html?m=1

So basically buy trait xp to be able to get the abilities to crit on away missions. Cheers. Thought you were saying could get epics as direct rewards makes sense now

Get the Strike Team officers. They are fast becoming the only meta for PvP -- at least for Interceptors & Battleships -- and what little information coming out of Scopely on their availability suggests they'll only be sourced as part of Incursions, which is what, once a month? 10x a year? Don't expect a lot of shards of them each month, while you're at it. So the further you go with Dukat, the less time until you unlock him via what I expect to be a pretty piss-poor sourcing rate, at least for the next 18 months or so.

Get as far as you can with as many Strike Team officers as you can, in fact. Hopefully you bought the Strike Team Battleship pack when it was available. If you have Garak and Damar @ tier 1, I'd say put everything into Dukat and do your gooby best to finish him later. If you don't have at least tier 1 of either Garak or Damar or both, get them to T1 and then put the rest into Dukat.

As for other ships, you're too high level to get a North Star. Sure sure, it's a superstar that beats up combat ships around OPS 18-21, but once the Vahklas & Kumari arrive it gets rapidly outclassed. You're real close to OPS 22 & the Vahklas. Discovery is an excellent quality-of-life improvement which you can build today, worth considering, but officers are forever.
