The tenth of May

If only I knew what I was getting myself into,

I would've let that kid drown,

All those years ago when my worries were few,

Before I had this need to write my suicide note to you.

Who knew how many horrors he'd have to face whilst he grew,

Who knew happiness in his life would be so far in between and few.

If I could I would go back to drown him myself,

Make sure he never saw another beautiful view.

If I could I would go back and drag him further into the water,

Make sure he never knew about life, about what's true.

Maybe in one of these stars, so far away

He wasn't saved and embraced death in his own way.

Maybe in one of these skies on the horizon, far far away.

He was buried by his loved ones, on a rainy day in May.
