Awesome work. Looks amazing. I want to do my Cappuccino’s F6A like this… currently have it on an engine stand with just the rear main seal housing still on and crankshaft + rods/pistons/bearings still in. I’ll have to reference this for the future.

Alcohol based contact cleaner like brake cleaner/carb cleaner is aggressive and would easily rinse away all the grease but it's kind of expensive. You can use soap and a garden hose.

Spray the shit out of it with something like Spray Nine/Purple Power/Dawn dish soap then hose it down with water. Plug up every single hole you don't want water getting into.

When it's dry, you would ideally use a torch (propane torch) on the surface of all the metal that will be painted. This is necessary because you're working with cast iron. Cast iron is *very* porous. It will hold moisture and oil deep in the pores. If you blowtorch the shit out of it before painting, it will evaporate/burn off and you will have a good surface for paint to adhere to.

Use Rust-Oleum Rusty Metal Primer. Wait 24 hours and follow up with an oil based paint. Use 2 coats of primer and color each. USE A PAINT BRUSH. DON'T USE SPRAY PAINT. Spray paint will flake off and look like shit in a matter of months.

I just painte

I accidentally put the description in the wrong place. Oops.

Dollar store oven cleaner. Grab a bunch of cans and some scrubbies. Go at it and be liberal. Let it soak for a couple mins when u first apply. Itll come clean and wont break the bank

Simple Green and a pressure washer. Then simple green it again with a brush. Just be sure to block off any inlet.

Then fix whatever is leaking so bad.

Leave it and let it leak. Rust preventative 😬

Tape em up and don’t aim directly at them

How should I keep water from getting into the exhaust and intake port?

Heavy duty degreaser, the foaming stuff in a can at the parts stores is nice. And a power washer.
