I’m looking to buy a 48V, 600-800W PSU and was surprised by the large gap between Meanwell pricing and other brands like Cincon or delta. Despite having more features in some cases, Meanwell is less than half the price - is this expected? Am I compromising by buying the cheaper meanwell option or are the other brands just targeted at business customers?

Hey all - I set up a whisper tts server on a spare M1 Mac using whisper-mlx. However, it takes several seconds to transcribe even a short “turn off X lights”-style message. Has anyone identified lower-latency solutions with this style of hardware?

2x65W Wall Wart?

Looking for Device

Hey all - curious if anyone has found a quality wall wart with at least two USBC ports that support 65W each, simultaneously. Seems some of the 200W devices achieve this, but many get quite expensive.

Hey all - I was looking back over my collection of devices and noticed my 8088 (ceramic DIP, appears to be 1981) had the letter “I” (as in ‘eye’) as the manufacturer code. I’ve seen later processors use that letter to denote assembly in Malaysia but I was curious if anyone had better data or a more concrete reference!

Interested in cataloging and reproducing the visual payloads of MS-DOS virii, particularly Ithaqua, Virdem, and Ambulance. I’ve found COM binaries for some of these virii, but many of them are self-encrypting and beyond my skill to decompile. If anyone has details or data I’d love to talk!

I’ve been looking into running larger models (Llama4 108B, GLM air, OSS 120B) and am starting to look at some dedicated hardware. The numbers for the Ryzen AI platforms look promising, but the lack of upgrade path worries me.

Have people tried running pairs of GPUS like 3080Ti/4060Ti? I know llama.cpp supports this, but I’m curious as to people’s performance and any pitfalls from a dual-card setup.

Looking to sell an APC Smart PDU (model APC AP8958), which has been the PDU for my low-power homelab for the last few years. I've recently switched to DC power for everything, so I no longer need this PDU. Hoping to get $50 OBO, with local pickup near Ann Arbor, MI. I'm willing to ship at buyer's expense, but it will likely be over $100 as the PDU is ~38" long.

Hi all - I recently changed my networks internal IPs to 10.0.0.x, from 192.168.1.x. Although I’m able to access the control plane(?) at 10.0.0.1, the unifi app is unable to reconnect to my cloud gateway max. Is there a way to force the app to update the location of the gateway, or am I misunderstanding something more fundamental?

Bought it to use as a ultra-efficient homelab server, but realized all my services fit on a smaller SBC. This is brand new with a factory Windows license, and has only been powered on for a few minutes. Still has the peel on the power button! Looking for $450 shipped.

CPU: Intel 13420H RAM: 16GB DDR4 (1x16, although there is a second SODIMM slot) SSD: 256GB Gen 4x4 m.2, with Windows license WiFi: Intel AX201

Comes with the vertical stand and the original power brick, but not the additional SATA drive caddy (which seem to be available on Amazon and EBay).

As in the title, I’ve been searching for 0.5U (less than 0.87”) compatible network hardware. The ubiquity flex mini (and 2.5G) are 21.2mm, which is less than 0.87 inches and is exactly the height of the GeeekPi 0.5U rack shelf, but require USB power and do not support POE. Does anyone have recommendations for POE switches within this footprint?

I’m shopping for a used hatchback and live in a snowy area, so all wheel drive is a must. Are there any strong recommendations, or models to definitely stay away from? I’m considering the Subaru Impreza but am open to just about anything.

Edit: looking in the 8-12k range, something that will last a good few years but significantly cheaper than new
