My 686 gore-tex mittens are tearing up after a season (~50 days). I'm looking to replace them. I tend to run a little bit warm, but they've been great all year. I snowboard in California, so we're usually at 20s-30s most days, 10s for pow days, 40s-50s for spring skiing. Usually I'm at < 8 days/season of rain/pow, most days are sunny (or I can't get off work for a pow day).

I'm looking at Hestra gloves:

Apparently the YES Greats XTRM has been sunsetted for 2027, so my plans got killed (Love the asym twin look) - Would love some advice on a board/boards!

About me:

I wear a size 10 boot (Generally prefer a stiffer boot), I'm < 170lbs, I ride duck for switch. I know how to change turn size/shape, how to do up unweighted and down unweighted turns. Aiming for 50+ days next season.

My current board(s):

Currently riding a YES Standard 2024 156, put ~70 days on it and shop says it might be time to start looking. Board is pretty great for what I do.

Misc:

I would love to maybe get get a Freecarver 6000 since i've found I can't hold as aggressive an edge compared to the dudes riding p

I used to run the Q3+ on my DRZ 400 SM front/rear. Time to get a new rear, and I'm finding they don't make these anymore!

I don't commute, but my canyon is ~20 miles hwy, ~20 miles city away. Other than that, I just rip around town. I live in California, and I don't off-road, so just canyon focuses really :)

Not too worried about price or longevity (I don't want a road 6 lol), mostly looking for a great canyon tire. What's the best tire right now?

I'm in the incredibly fortunate position to work remotely (EST hours), not have kids, and love snowboarding.

I spent my entire last winter in Mammoth Lakes, California for (3) months and I'd like to do it again this coming season.

I really enjoyed Mammoth specifically because it was so remote (Felt like it got less visitors and for the crowds it did see Mammoth handles them really well given it is pretty gigantic - lift lines were rarely an issue all season, etc). Additionally with I was always ~5 minutes from a ski left (Great for after-work runs!!!).

Goals:

  • Under $4,000/mo lodging (Preferably under $3,000)
  • Strong preference for < 10 minutes to the lifts (I do not want to

Looking to buy a longboard, figured it’d be way easier to keep the board inside the car. It’d just be me, so can kind of fold the entire rear seats down and angle a bit.

Has anyone tested it with a 9’6 surfboard? Is it too close to the windshield for comfort or generally chill?

Staying 6 nights in Waikiki. Goal is to surf (beginner) and relax. No kids. Just me. Maybe some excursions (Kualoa Ranch for sure).

Plan is to:

  • Take 5 Surf Lessons (company called stokedrift has a package, I figure I'll surf a decent bit, I'm currently a beginner)
  • Relax with a pina colada by the pool to read a book, etc (Seems like no drinking @ the beach, so I figure the hotel pool is the spot to relax not the beach?)
    • Massive points for kid-free-areas. Kids are great, but this trip is partially to relax, so tranquility is appreciated and I rly don't want screaming kids when I'm chilling.

What I've checked out so far:

  • Wayfinder Waikiki ($1700)
  • Hyatt Regency ($1600

I have an existing Fezibo standing desk machinery that I use a 72” Karlsby on.

Looking to get a 60” or so top and re use the Fezibo standing desk machinery.

How is this - https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/mittzon-table-top-birch-veneer-40527854/ ?

I need to mount a vesa mount with a 24” monitor and a 29” odyssey monitor so trying to find a tabletop that won’t break here. Any advice? Maybe just buy another Karlsby, cut it down somewhere and glue the veneer strip back on? Or is the Mittzon solid? Seems to be the same particleboard interior.

How is traffic getting to main on weekdays eg tomorrow?

Wondering how early to leave from Eagle area. Need to get to main and also get rental gear from Main (have reservations).

Taking a 10AM lesson - is leaving at 9:30 fine and we’ll have time to get gear park etc?

Hey folks. Last year at the recommendation of this subreddit I bought the Demon Impact Shorts:

https://demon-united.com/collections/bottoms/products/demon-flexforce-x-d3o-xrd-v6-mens-shorts

I took a pretty aggressive hit to my tailbone after catching an edge wearing it (admittedly without the yellow foam, just the D30). Six months later my tailbone is still tender in some positions that put pressure specifically on it.

I’ve gotten some social media ads for Cased and that looks like a damn meaty tailbone pad. My goal with the season starting is to reduce the risk of reinjury since my tailbone is still healing.

Has anyone tried these Cased shorts? Would these be more protective for the tai

The listing said

“There’s is free parking available for 2 vehicles” with the "Free Parking on Premises" option as an amenity.

However, the owner messages us and said:

“Parking: Parking for 2 vehicle(s) Parking notes: Outdoor parking for 2 vehicles is available. Spaces are not reserved, so first come, first served. Parking passes are located in unit.”

Is that on par with the on premises option or is this like a material change/anything I can do here? I absolutely dropped the ball and didn’t read the hosts message until a few days prior to the reservation date (and past the cancellation period) admittedly.

This is for Thanksgiving weekend, and I wouldn’t have booked this location if I kne

Looking to get a snow shovel for the car. The Amazon ones are so expensive and (based on reviews) all seem to break. I snowboard and would love to get into backcountry, so figured I'd just spend the extra $20 to get a better shovel that doubles as a BC shovel?

Does it make sense to just grab an avy shovel off REI's sale?

Is TastyTrade a legit brokerage? Offer link - https://info.tastytrade.com/tasty-offer?

Additional question - If say (hypothetically) it isn't legit and I transfer over X (Say 250K) - What happens? Is the ACAT transfer at my own risk and I'm out 250K? I know there's a brokerage equivalent of FDIC insurance, but it only covers a brokerage going broke, right?

Looking to start doing brokerage bonuses, but many of them are non Fidelity/Vanguard/Schwab and I want to understand more about the risks - Transferring e.g. 250K to a company called "TastyTrade" seems like a hilarious "how I lost 250k" story ya know?
