I'm thinking of having an op for a condition I've managed for many years but is getting worse. It's quite a big procedure, and I'm wary, as every op I've ever had has gone very wrong. Always ended up worse than before (which is why I've put this one off). I have insurance, but the cock-ups I've suffered previously have all been private, and I think I'd be better off going NHS this time.

How do you find who is the best in the speciality? The guy I was under locally didn't inspire much. I've tried all routes on t'interweb without success. I want to know who has the best results! Would travel out of London if necessary.

Thanks in anticipation....

Just letting you all know - we had a great time. Nearest to a Wire experience was through the train window arriving and departing - with 2 days, we purely did the tourist trail.

Couldn't believe how lovely MV, Fells were. Couldn't believe how incredibly decrepit Penn Station was. I'd never have guessed it was still in operation, were it not for the digital describers. No elevators or escalators for disabled, old or those with very heavy luggage (ahem). Reminded me of something from the Soviet Union circa 1980s. How did it ever get in that state? The platforms are disgusting.

Hotel Revival was great, with a fab roofbar. First time I'd ever used Uber, and it worked like a dream. And here's s

Yes! After many years of mainly lurking on here (occasional post) owing to my Baltimore obsession, I'm finally visiting for 2 short days, arriving on the 18th. Flying from London to Dulles for 3 nights in DC then MARC to Baltimore. Definitely doing Charleston, and the Aquarium (which you can't book online from outside the US!) and will prob spend the rest of the time bar hopping in Fells, if it's not under water. Staying in MV. It will be surreal after so long.

Wonder if I'll bump into any redditors?

Today's weird request. I'm trying to find a poster of Father Jack Hackett (off off Father Ted) for the purposes of a placard for the Peoples' Vote march in October. No prizes for guessing the words "Brexit", "Feck" and "Off" will be involved. Tried Googling but no luck at all. Any ideas?

OK, so this has been off/on for so long now, but I'm finally booking for Sept. It will only be 2 nights (Tue/Wed - juggled as so much seems closed on a Mon) as we're cramming DC and Philly in also before a week in NYC. Looks to be 18th/19th Sept.

We're 2 gay guys (together 34 years, can you believe?!) so would like to try a gay bar or two IF anything is still going. Is anything open on Tues/Weds eve? Also - can't decide whether to book the Revival in MV or somewhere in Fells. My only concern is getting around eve/late - gonna have to get my head around Uber I guess (we never use it here, with 24 hour Tube!).

Finally - and here come the downvotes - I fully confess I am obsessed with Bmore,

Two of our favourite locals have just had 1 star rating by the council inspectors. Neither come across as scruffy, or poorly run, never had any reaction after eating their food. Both are suddenly less busy, as people have obviously noticed. Don't know whether to keep patronising them or see them wither and die.

What would you do? I mean - one star is pretty bad.

Inspired by the many threads from visitors to London over Christmas, I thought this year we would drive into town in the morning (with family who are coming up from Devon) to experience the lack of people and atmosphere. Lunch will be late when we get home. My question is: does anyone know if normal parking restrictions apply? Is there anyone working to enforce them?

Firstly, I'm not starting this with "So...." as it's infuriating.

I'm starting to put together an east coast trip for September - we can only get away for a week, but I love city hopping, so it's 2 nights in DC/Philly/Baltimore (none of which we've been to). We'll arrive on Sat in Philly, which means Mon/Tues in Baltimore. Only problem is that it seems a lot is closed (inc the Walters). I can't think of any other way around to do the trip, and in any case I'd rather be in Philly for the weekend as there's more for a gay (aging, but still boozing!) couple there.

Is it worth coming to Baltimore on those days? Is there enough to do (and we're not sports fans at all)?

As a distant enthusiast and observer of east coast cities (courtesy Mr Google) it hits me that Philly is a good deal less segregated than Baltimore. Seems white is white and black is black in Charm City, whereas Philly seems much more mixed - even in some of the more sketchy neighbourhoods. Is it actually that way, or merely an appearance based on snapshots on an internet map?
