I was at a dentist checkup, and after telling me to "look happy" as he was going in with a pick, he later commented "you are happy, no one can take that away from you". I don't know if that was just part of the script or if he clocked that I'm not doing so great, but it brightened my day. I wish everyone an emotional support dentist.

I'm coming up on 10 years since I bought my FiiO E10K and I'm wondering, would an upgrade to a more modern piece of kit be at all noticeable?
Given I'd keep an upgrade for probably another 10 years I'm prepared to spend decent money for a DAC/AMP, like the Asgard X I've been looking at recently for its specs and style (I'm in Europe by the way, I know Schiit Europe isn't the best). It'd be nice to have an amp that can handle tougher headphones in case of future headphone acquisitions

Hey all, I'd like to get my dad some bookshelf speakers for his birthday in 2026. My budget is around 1k EUR, and I anticipate that Wife Acceptance Factor will come into play (I'll check with her first). He's not an audiophile per se but appreciates music, listening mainly to rock and a bit of world music. I was thinking I'd get the speakers first and depending on usage get him a subwoofer later down the line. The room is approx. 3 x 5 m.
So far I've been eyeing the KEF LSX II LT for the WAF. Alternatively Q1 Meta + WiiM Amp Pro if they'd be better at filling out the room, plus maybe more durability/fixability with a separate amp.
