Working on getting valve springs installed on a set of heads for a ford 351w. The space when measured with a valve spring micrometer is just about 2 inches exactly but my installed height is 1.800 for the spring. Planning on using the +.050 locks but is .150 of shim too much?
Looking into options to make a rover v8 from a 96 discovery to run on its own but having a hard time picking the right path. Is there a method that seems to work best? Considered getting a holley hyperspark ignition and sniper efi but if I could keep the port injection id like to
Hello all, I've been chasing my tail for the last two days on a 306 SBF that bogged and popped like crazy at 3500rpm and would not go any faster than that. We ran the gamit of checking any and all fuel (carburetor) and timing related issues. Finally in exasperation we replaced a 4 hole carb spacer with an open carb spacer. The issue was was resolved. Any input on what caused the 4 hole to not work and the open to work beautifully? Id like to know for the future to understand what's at play and why it matters.
306 SBF, 750cfm Mechanical secondary, E85 carb, dual plane intake, solid lifters, gt40 heads, 10 inches of vacuum at idle
I'm struggling mightily with setting valve lash on pushrod v8s with adjustable valvetrain. I get them (a 351w, 460, 350 sbc) to 0 lash and go to preload it and it just opens the valve instead of loading the lifters? I'm obviously missing a step or something but I've read on it, watched guides, etc. These are all on previously running engines so maybe the lifters are pumped up all the way? How do you get them to bleed down? Just tired of hitting this roadblock. Makes me want to put solid lifters in everything and set it with a feeler gauge
I'm really glad they have allowed crash repairs to be made behind the wall this year. I came across this video on my Facebook feed the really encompassed all the things I missed about teams trying to get every last spot no matter what - it's the 17 teams battle to get ahead of the 43 in the battle of cars with crash damage https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15XhxBBgab/
Excuse the formatting, I very rarely post
I was recently gifted a 96 discovery se7 that I was told runs sometimes and found that it's got a big ol hole in the engine computer. Is there a preferred place to get a replacement? Or does anyone have an extra they'd be willing to part with?
Looking for any/all of these - if anyone's got any they're wanting to part with let me know. Wanting to spend around $500 altogether but open to all offers
I know some people here are "In the know" so to speak so I'm hoping I can find an answer. I'm in the process of converting an old thunderbird to truck arm rear suspension and am ready to build the crossmember that the arms will attach to but I don't know how far apart to put the brackets the arms attach to. If anyone could give me an answer I'd greatly appreciate it
Replaced the DEF tank heater and still have a message for XX miles until speed limited to 50mph. I had a paper on getting EGTs to 266 degrees Fahrenheit, accelerate mildly to 50 and decelerate for 6 seconds. Then accelerate hard for at least 3 seconds but I wasn't able to fix it. Anyone have experience with this?
