Because outposts in Antarctica are frequently sited as analogs for a Mars settlement, I assume many people on this sub have researched this. I'd like to hear opinions on the implications for Mars.

Unfortunately, after a few months of research, I've concluded that International Treaties have no bearing settling Antarctica. We simply can't do it. Same for mining. If resources could be extracted, then treaties be damned; someone would do it. Someone would "make it legal". But we can't. Not the US; not Russia; not China.

Invariably someone will argue "anything is possible with enough money". It's a lazy answer which terminates any meaningful discussion, and I'm not even sure it's true.

All the Diane's were killed/erased, but for millions of Morty's to exist, then logically many Beth's must still be alive?

How were these Beth's raised?

Did the Ricks raise these Beths? Were they all kept in Froopy Land?

Did Ricks abandon these Beths? Presumably, the Beth's got pregnant at 17. Which makes sense; that's what happens when daughters are abandoned.

Were they raised in orphanages?

I suppose it's theoretically possible that all Beth's died, and all other Morty's were manufactured by some other means.

To me the first 4 seasons were Futurama in its prime. Subsequent seasons, though not "bad", were of lower quality. I subscribed to Hulu just to watch Futurama. Each Hulu season had maybe one episode which was up to the original Futurama standards ("Benders all the way down" was great).

I had no expectations for season 13, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pacing of jokes. None of episode were "amazing", but all the episodes were consistently good.

I'd rank season 13 my fifth favorite season.

Let's examine the premise. "Gilead" takes over, coinciding with a plague which renders 99% of women infertile. Instead of fertility clinics and invitro fertilization, which are used in Iran, Saudi Arabia. Gilead opts for a ritual in which the wealthy women hold a "handmaid's" arms while their wealthy husbands have sex with them.

Meanwhile, all the lower and middle class men, with no prospects for having a family, not only accept this situation, but actively support the regime? In real life the Republic of Gilead would be shredded in ten minutes.

The reader must accept (or overlook) some highly improbable events all coinciding, to setup a scenario where consent/non-consent occurs betwee

Most science-fiction, even hard sci-fi, contains handwaving. In Blindsight, I accepted the Icarus Array and quantum teleportation of anti-matter without asking for details, because... at least it wasn't FTL.

But for some reason, in Echopraxia, I'm stuck on one point.

How did Valerie induce the Crucifix glitch in humans?

It wasn't critical to the plot. I shouldn't care. I mean, if I've accepted a resurrected hyper-intelligent cannibalistic hominid, why does the Crucifix Glitch bother me.

But because it happened in the first few pages of the book, I kept expecting an explanation.
