I assume rich people finance community will have some high income earners where both parents work. I’m curious how people have set up their support systems when it comes to house Cleaning, infant support, drop off pick up homework help for an older kid, general household manager type support (tidying up, resetting common spaces, running random errands).

We are expecting our second and the thought of that is very overwhelming when I think about the chaos, it’ll add to our routines. I currently have cleaners every other week, house manager three days a week for about 10 hours total, and a Babysitter for occasional help. I imagine when the baby comes I will need some additional support plus w

What do the expert masses think...

From being in this sub, i now know that my couch is riddled with body oil from lying on it and falling asleep on the cushions. I just soaked (in powdered tide) and washed the regular pillow cushion covers and they are so much better.

Do we think the couch covers will survive the wash? It's a 6 year old Room and Board couch.

hello, me again :)

i'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to think about this b/c i'm missing something.

I'm essentially trying to create monthly cash flow statements.  my partner is a finance person and is used to looking at things that way.

So... cash to start + income - expenses throughout month = cash at end.

I can see most of this in the little summary box to the right:

Left Over from Last Month + Assigned - Activity =available

What's tripping me up is Activity.  Ynab includes both the expenses of what was deducted from each category, AND the credit card payment that went out.  Is that not double counting?!?!  Except I know it's not b/c the cash ties out.  But if I spent $5

Curious if any YNAB users are using the data to create traditional cashflow statements (starting cash + income - expenses = ending cash).

i'm getting tripped up where the 'activity' in ynab that essentially represents expenses, also includes credit card payments. So it would seem it's double counting the transactions.

i tried posting in r/ynab but they seem to not be approving posts

I'm trying to understand this discrepancy..

when i look at toolkit reports and look at "income", it it different than the amount that's listed as "assigned" in that month.

I'm helping a friend with $30K debt across credit cards, personal loan, and student debt, figure out a strategy to pay it off.

He has access to a credit union personal loan at 9% rate for $20K, or a 4% loan for $10K .

I am trying to work out scenarios to see what would be beneficial:

Like if he only gets a $10K loan, then there's more left on the CC but the overall minimum payment will go down, so he can use the diff to snowball it. or if he gets the 20K one, then it's one payment but clears out all cc debt.

Am i best off paying one of the fee only advisors (i can look at the wiki) to help model out different scenarios? Or is there a tool out there that helps me play with the variab

I wonder if someone can help me figure this out...

im trying to do a cashflow statement at the end of each month using my ynab spending data. But I can't get it to reconcile.

I feel like it should work like this...

I look at ending balances on all my categories in August. That is my "Beginning cash"

I then look at reports and i add Income, and subtract expenses, that gives me "Ending Cash".

Shouldn't this "Ending Cash", equal the total of the ending balance on all my categories in September?

it's been off each month and I can't figure out why. Sometimes a few dollars sometimes more. I assume it maybe has to do with how i'm inflowing money or categorizing stuff or how credit card bal

Hello! We just moved into our new house and I would like to run ethernet cables through the wall. We have Fios. I'm hoping i can get some advice because despite my best effort and using chat GPT i am hella confused :)

We have a 1970s house with a basement, main floor, and 2nd floor.

  1. My contractor, recommended that the modem stay in the basement, and that we run ethernet wires up from there. I have a wifi extender which i would keep on the main floor. Is this a good idea? Initially I wanted to set it up on the main floor to allow for better signal up to 2nd floor

  2. My research tells me to get CAT-6a cables, so that i'm set up for whenever we get to a 10G speed. Is there a specific

Does anyone know if there's a way to see the date on which an account is expected to go into the negative based on the running balance?

I have all my transactions scheduled (to the extent I can). I also try to keep as much as possible in HYSA. So as part of my monthly clean up, i always check to make sure i'm not expected to go into the negative.

Is there a way to see at a glance when that might be?
