Last Maghrib of Ramadan

Question about Islam

 ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

I am a revert. Last year I was faithful during Ramadan and went to the masjid as often as I could for iftar and brotherhood. During the last evening of Ramadan after maghrib, I saw something unfamiliar. The whole congregation said Allahu akbar and a couple other things I was unfamiliar with all in unison.

Can anybody expand on what we say during the last maghrib of Ramadan? It was very powerful to hear the chants and I want to be prepared for next year inshallah.

Thank you!
