We are planning on visiting Yosemite for a full day in September. Will probably do a 5-6hrish hike (Mist -> Nervada maybe. I know the waterfalls are basically gone by then) early in the morning after breakfast, get some lunch, maybe more leisurely walks and then head back to the accommodation for the night.

We will stay 2 x nights near by, probably either Groveland or Mariposa, so we can utilise a full day at Yosemite before we need to head back the next day for a flight.

I think a good idea for us, would be to choose one route (Highway 120 or 140) to drive into Yosemite and the other to drive out on our way back to San Francisco. The route driving in, determining our accommodation.

My mates and I (group of 4) are visiting San Francisco for work and have an opportunity to spend sometime after on a holiday.

I was thinking we should hire a car and visit Yosemite for a day OR overnight. Do a hike or two. But since it'll be at the end of September (around the 26th), it might change hike preferences?

Four Mile Trail, Panorama Trail, Mist Trail looks amazing and the kind of hike I would love to do. But I think it's a bit too much for the 4 of us, so perhaps something slightly shorter? or maybe multiple much shorter hikes? Otherwise I might try convince us to give it a go.

Would traffic going to Yosemite from San Francisco be ok late September? Even on a weekend?

Just got our first EV 2 weeks ago. 2022 Tesla Model Y.

Contemplating getting a Tesla Gen 3 Wall Charger. Getting a little sick of trickle charging with the mobile charger at 10a. Realistically we are fine trickle charging it, but we'd probably have to do it every night if we want to guarantee 100% charge by Saturday Morning (only if we charge from 9pm-7am).

Only thing holding me back is the price of the charger and install probably will never break even...especially since we will still have the same problem of fishing the cable under the garage door (I'm assuming installing it outside is going to expensive and complicated).

Zeta Artoria are popular here in New Zealand with a community of Tesla owners, as they're dirt cheap compared to other options. But has anyone had any experience with them? Can't find much info online.

As long as they're safe in dry/wet conditions, last a decent while and aren't too noisy, I'll be keen. It's a significant saving.

My new build (fletchers) has heatlamps in the bathroom ceilings. These have lots of vents exposed to the attic. When I use the bathroom extraction fan, I can smell the attic air coming in (insulation).

Is there a solution to sealing this safely without causing an overheating fire hazard? Or does that require a replacement heatlamp that is designed to be sealed?

I guess sealing this could negatively pressure the house even more when using bathroom fans, but I have an ERV and was thinking of ducting the bathroom anyway.

Just for fun and curiousity...

Ignoring temporary global situations with petrol pricing spikes, Petrol seems relatively stable over a long time frame (although COVID definitely produced a permanent spike). Where Electricity just has a continual trend up forever. Has it ever gone down? (to be fair, I think it's the daily fixed charge of electricity that has gone up the most over the years?).

I've always lacked confidence and speaking skills, especially in a group setting. Toastmasters seems like a great way to tackle that problem. Taking the first step, as always, is the hardest part.

Curious to hear stories about if it has improved your life outside of work. Did it boost confidence in general? How was your first experience going? Any Toastmaster clubs to avoid? (Auckland based).

I'm a Team Lead of an engineering team. We've just recently been assigned with a new Product Manager (he's great!).

The big shift for us, is that our new Product Manager is on the other side of the world! Our work hours don't overlap at all. Thus conversation is purely async in Slack. (I'm going to start doing 1on1s weekly after hours though, it's the only solution for that problem).

Any product managers here in a similar situation? How do you best facilitate communication with your engineering team? How do you best optimise ticket planning etc (to avoid miscommunication and lots of back and forth)? Collaborative "Proposals"/"Design Docs" through Google Docs or Confluence or something simi
