I purchased a used 21 outback with two new Achilles Desert hawk HT3 tires. The previous owner didn't replace the other two tires. I know I need 4 of the same tires for the AWD. Should I pay $270 for two more of these cheap achilles tires or spend around $1k for new yokohamas/michellins? Any other mid priced tires that are recommended. It does snow a good amount here

Last week I purchased a car with all wheel drive from carmax. I took it in for an inspection and the front tires are the original tires and have a nearly bald 3/32nd tread. They informed me that an all wheel drive car needs to have four identical tires with the same amount of tread. the rear tires look brand new and may have been replaced by carmax. They are cheap achilles tires that seem to only be sold by walmart and a few other online places. Is it worth going in to a service appointment and working with a manager to fight for two more new $90 tires? What are my odds of getting them to put on new tires or reimbursing me for them? Does Carmax use these cheap achilles tires?
