Shouldn't it be possible to use named items and items filters to build a higher-order functional programming engine directly in survival Minecraft?
Instead of converting everything down to binary redstone logic signals, we could use item physics to run graph reduction or λ-calculus natively:
Named Items as AST Tokens: Anvil-named items (e.g., paper labeled "x", "+", or "1") act as immutable symbols and variables.
Shulker Boxes as Closures/AST Nodes: A custom-named Shulker Box acts as an encapsulated function or environment. Slot 0 could hold the bound variable name (e.g., "x"), and slots 1–26 hold the executable token stream (the function body).
Item Filters / Allays as Pattern Mat
