So I recently got a call from Dad telling me he had Stage 4 lung cancer. In the back of my mind I feel like I've been waiting for this news since he recovered from his throat cancer a few years back. I don't know how to deal with this, my dad has always been my hero and my model for the man I aspire to be. I don't get it. My partner tried to kill herself last August and spent a week in intensive care to save her life. I spent two weeks by her side in the hospital, feeling utterly defeated looking at the central line, breathing tube and feeding tube... but having to be strong to support her. My cousin killed herself not that long before that and I spent 2 months in a drunken mess wondering wh

You have (or are going to be in the process of acquiring) a security clearance, oh my god. Stop openly broadcasting exactly what you do for a living and where you do it. Who knows, maybe I'm on your recruitment panel and I hate my fellow redditors. Stop doxxing yourselves, and stop breaching basic OpSec practice by linking what you're going to be doing to your weird reddit accounts. I know this subreddit is a good resource for getting advice on breaking in to the APS but you can't just say what your role is, when you start, and what you'll be doing. JFC. If you're asking questions about a security clearance beyond baseline, you probably don't fucking deserve one.

I had this game on my Steam wishlist for a few months during EA and bought it on release. I typically go delving in Steam tags every now and then in a dopamine starved purchasing frenzy, and was immediately sold when I saw the premise of this game. Looking at gameplay images and videos secured that, to me it looked like all the fun parts of Slay the Spire but without the feeling that the developer fucking hated you and wanted you to suffer. So I bought it on official release and have been fiending it pretty heavily since. I feel like it has greatly exceeded the expectations I had for it and I'm in love with this game.

The thing is, nobody I know has ever heard of it. I have a lot of friends

I just want to start by saying I'm not bashing these guys in general. I've had good chats and good experiences with most of the Canberra window washers, and if you say no they accept it no worries. But has anyone else dealt with the one short haired blond bloke who won't take no for an answer? I shake my head and he does it anyway, I wind my window down and tell him to get off and he keeps going. I have to turn my wipers on the get the prick to fuck off and then he just does it to the person behind me.

Seriously got to get rid of this guy.

So I've been browsing reddit for about a week now, and this has quickly become my favourite subreddit, so I made an account just to post this story.

Now, this one isn't about me, but about a man I've known since I was a toddler; a close family friend whose son is one of my closest friends, whose daughter was one of my sisters closest, and he and his wife are probably my dad's closest. This man is pretty well off. He is a district accounts manager for a large, international computing company, with a district that covers Australia, New Zealand, and much of Asia. But he's one of the most friendly, humble guys you can talk to, due to his poor upbringing. A real class act.

Now the story starts
