For a dealer, relatively decent intro.
Picture any park in Toronto. Nice fenced-in off-leash area. Look at any field in a park outside that legit off-leash area and you'll get people playing fetch with their dogs in an area where families with small children are trying to enjoy their day, maybe play some soccer or throw a frisbee.
To be charitable, I've seen some dog owners realize they've created an unsafe situation and they put their hands back on the leash they're dropped on the ground, or summon their dog back from the middle of a large field.
Of course, you get that "but my dog is well trained," response form some people. Ok, let's see your dog respond to your commands.
The dog then trolls its owner by stubbornly refusing
Then why oh why are they offering me these "services"...
The $49.95 CAD Vehicle Health check, including checking engine oil level and condition
The free \"battery check & report\", free \"when oil change performed\"
I started off by complaining about someone moving the clock forward about the "routine maintenance" that they announced as starting "from May 10th, 11 pm (ET), to May 13th, 6 am (ET)."
I was going to ask if anyone else is having issues.
Then before hitting "Post" I tried again and of course the website is working now.
Anyway the reason I logged in was to check on a client who was being charged a ridiculously small amount of arrears interest, which OF COURSE got reversed, but not until the NOA was sent out.
Why.
Why do this to us.

A few hours ago today the OnStar/GM e-mail came through to me.
Thanks to their corporate PR/lawyers, I'm not surprised that the news tap dances around the whole "why we're actually doing this" thing unless you go to the very last FAQ question on their website.
From the Canadian FAQ page:
Q: "Do you share the data with LexisNexis or Verisk, or other third-party telematics exchange companies?
(A:) Information collected by the OnStar Smart Driver service in relation to Canadian customers is not shared with third parties (including LexisNexis or Verisk) for their own use or for insurance purposes.
Additionally, for US customers
I was one of the unlucky folks with a 2022 EUV that was no longer going to automatically get a new battery, so I spent last year doing the 10,000 km "shakedown cruise," and had just started to enjoy full 100% battery usage in time for winter adventures.
The morning of Dec 31, 2023 I pulled the car out and it had only charged to 90 instead of the planned 100%, and the service/power error messages popped up on my dash.
My dealership was closed for the New Year's weekend but I text with my salesguy and he assured me I could come in first thing Tuesday morning when they reopened for business.
I spent 11 days driving around in a GM-paid rental - a Polestar 2 (fun, but there were things the Bol
I know the CRA will "eventually" get around to processing returns. But of course, clients get understandably annoyed by long waits. Quoting the service standards isn't a great response, since it's cold comfort to know you're one of the special "5%" of individuals who don't get handled within the service standard timeline.
Why even bother having a standard if you don't explain what you're going to do about outliers anyway?
And with respect to calling, I know the best approach (phone early!), but wow, it still amazes me that their definition of a "pass" is if they answer you within 15 minutes - and then, only 65% of the time.
Any thoughts or commiseration on long waits / tactics to respond
5 months after the last software recall, and a little over 2 years after the shock that 2022 EUVs would be subject to the recall, my car is finally back to "normal."
This calls for a celebration. And a longer road-trip with fewer charging stops.
A few shots of the trip odometer I reset as soon as the software had been applied to keep track of distance to reset follow. I tried to reset to 100% charging when I was 99.8% of the way there, but no, the 10,000 km limit was not yielding early.
So close, then home:
[Got home, ready to hit
I mean, yes, I get it. The sign on my car that says "funeral" isn't very large. And if you're looking at your phone you won't notice that there are four way lights flashing on my car and the five cars behind me, and in front of me.
But maybe, you should pay attention to those little hints.
Or maybe, just maybe, pay attention to the big black cars with purple flags waving that say "FUNERAL" and which have matching purple lights flashing.
Trying to cut me off on the way to honour the dead is one thing. Trying to run the hearse off the road? That's next level Toronto driving idiocy.
