I am moving to Germany for at least two years for graduate school. As the title says I am trying to figure out if what I want is possible. I want to keep my American phone number and only use it for texts while on WiFi. I plan on getting a German e sim and phone number which I will use for calls, cellular texts (on WhatsApp), and data. I am apart of a Verizon family plan and the rest of the members are staying in the US. I don’t want to spend the $95 a month for their international plan. Is what I want even possible?

r/tolstoy•

I’m starting my first Tolstoy soon and chose “The Death of Ivan Ilyich” as my first of his. I know translators are a big topic amongst Classic Russian Literature and I went through this process with Dostoevsky. For Dostoevsky I chose David McDuff or whatever translator did the Penguin Classic. Would you recommend the Penguin Classic for Tolstoy who is mostly Anthony Briggs based on my research or someone else?

Credit card suggestions for international living

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used)

I’m an American who will be studying and living in Germany for 2 years. Does anyone have any recommendations for credit cards? I was looking at the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Capital One Venture Rewards

I’ll be moving to Germany to study in October from the United States. Currently I’m working on my student visa and one of the requirements is proof of health insurance. Based on my research I have to get statutory student health insurance. Can someone confirm this and recommend a provider if that is the next steps?

r/GreekMythology•

I have read both The Song of Achilles and The Iliad and enjoyed them both, but I think they should exist together. I have seen book influencers and celebrity Daniel Radcliffe say to skip reading the Iliad because it’s too long and read The Song of Achilles instead. I think it’s so disappointing to try influence people to skip such an important book in history. a few months ago an Egyptian mummy was found with the Iliad in its tomb from 1,600 years ago. Napoleon had a copy while conquering Europe. Am I being too dramatic?
