This is a TV show with the most hamfisted metaphors, the most plot contrivances and the most patronizing political commentary imaginable. And the audience celebrates all of that because they are totally “owning the chuds who idolize Homelander”. These people are genuinely patting themselves in the back because they are so brilliant that they can understand that the guy who kills people for laughs is the bad guy.

Every time the writers make the shittiest most idiotic take at whatever Trump said on twitter they celebrate because surely this is the thime they are going to successfully freak the people making shitposts on the internet where Homelander says something “redpilled”, or whatever g

Mary Sue / Gary Stu is a strange aspect of pop culture as it seemly manage to dodge a precise definition and yet can be immediately recognized by the public at large. The entire situation sort of resembles the opinion of Supreme Court judge Potter Stewart when trying (and failing) to define pornography in legal terms: “I know it when I see it”.
