Hey guys, complete novice with limited resources here - however, I would like to try and make a basic monitor riser for my computer desk. If it was only a small monitor I would be comfortable just having a go but my monitor is something of a beast (16kg/35lb) and I don't want to risk the riser not being able to take the weight.

Materials
I have some 1/2" solid hardwood (fairly sure) pieces available which I would like to use - is this thick enough?

Tools
Basic working tools: handsaw, hacksaw, planers, basic chisels and sanding tools.
