I love the Kanto mons as much as the next guy, but the single best thing about the set is not even the pokemon. It's the fact that each evolution line has consistent artwork because they are drawn by the same artist! Except for the stupid ex cards of course..

It's so harmonious this way and I really wish they would use this approach with future sets. Can't express in words how much I hate having a 3 stage line in the binder where one is oilpaint, one is crocheted, and one looks like it's taken from the first pokemon stadium game.

Had a chance to play Alchemist:JotS with a friend recently.

In Alchemist you are essentially searching for notes on how to create potions that give you new spells. These spells can for example make you small, push stuff or blow them the f up, and they will continuously unlock new areas. I liked the general idea and quite enjoyed its predecessor "Escape First Alchemist", but unfortunately all the puzzles in this one were exceptionally simple. We absolutely rushed through the game with no challenges to be seen at all. The only slight delay we faced was when we were unable to find a specific note. In addition to this, the art style has taken a significant step back compared to the first game,

Finally got around to taking Logix for a spin and it turned out to be exactly what I hoped for!

Logix is a 1st person linear puzzle game with 40 puzzle "rooms", but instead of giving you a gun or a magical power, the way you interact with the environment in Logix is by connecting input cubes to output cubes and then placing other cubes on pressure plates. Okay I'm not doing it justice! Restart.

Essentially what you are doing when connecting cubes is to establish the logic of the room. Before you activate a pressure plate, you have to let the system know what the pressure plate does by connecting the output cube of that pressure plate to the input cube of what you want to activate (platform

Have you ever solved a puzzle by whacking a bat at it? Maybe I've done it once or twice in real life, but Puzzle Parasite was probably the first time where it was the intended solution.

In puzzle parasite you arrive at an alien planet with the purpose of... hmm... something something minerals..? The story is not the selling point let's be honest. Anyways your pal Trent has packed a nice bat for you, which turns out to be more than a little useful, because on this unexplored planet there are a sort of powercores? gems? MINERALS? Anyways, these orbs of various colors are keys that need to reach their appropriately colored slots on the walls. In most cases this will be accomplished by picking

I carved out some time recently for Chromagun 2: Dye Hard, so as has become habit I thought I would share some thoughts so you can determine whether this game is for you. CG2 is a first person linear puzzle game with a sarcastic and sociopathic narrator (actually more than one) and lots of test chambers. Much in the vein of.... Do I even need to say it or can we just coin the term "Portallike" at this point? CG2 plays on this similarity by having much of the story, though thankfully not the puzzles, center around portals. Also, it's not THAT kind of portal, but instead portals to other universes that get progressively more wacky as the game progresses.

But I'm already rambling, let's talk a

Chromatic Conundrum is a short and sweet little game. When I first saw the trailer a couple of months back I was pretty hyped. The aesthetic is great, very simple, very clean and the way you have to combine colors is fun. It's not very intuitive since most people are familiar with paint color mixing rather than light color mixing, but you quickly get the hang of it.

When you get into it, the game is unfortunately veeery simple. Some of the puzzle chambers had something good going for them, but I spent less than 3 minutes per chamber on average, and less than 1.5 hours on the entire game. Now the game is very cheap and I definitely did have my money's worth of fun, but I would have loved to

Finally carved out some time to solve puzzles in Denbora!

In Denbora you are stuck in some testing chambers with a sarcastic AI surveiling your progress - I know, groundbreaking - but to be fair, why mess with a perfect formula? To move through the chambers you will be switching in time between present and future, while placing boxes and orbs on the correct pads at the correct time (get it?), opening or circumventing laser gates and barriers, using electronic tripwires to your advantage, and pulling plenty of switches. If you have played Portal Reloaded you will already be familiar with the very cool aspect of time-travel that actions performed in the present will affect the future, but act

Hey all,

I have been very excited to get my hands on Total Reload ever since I tried the demo what feels like many many months ago. Well it's out now, so I immediately sunk all my spare time into it! (which isn't a lot)

Total Reload is a 1st person physics/logic puzzler with linear progression - you know the drill from Portal, and at this point thankfully MANY other games! Personally I cannot get enough of this genre, but mileage may vary. In this one you take over the robotic body of an AI called Hawking and spend your time helping him rebuild/reconnect a facility. Apparently the world is ending and Hawking is life's only hope of continuing, because with your help he'll gain the ability

LoP: Samantha is a 1st person logic puzzle with teleportation as the primary tool for getting through a series of test chambers with buttons to press and cubes to place - the standard formula.

There are a few rules to the teleportation though. You can only teleport to where you have placed what I'll call an anchor. To start out you have a single anchor to place, but by the middle part of the game you'll have access to three, allowing you to zip around a room in a quick sequence to solve that rooms puzzle. The three anchors can be placed in any order, but you will always travel to them in a specified sequence (blue->green->red). The implication is of course that you can only teleport to plac
