Knocking noise

Bmw e46. N42 engine. I replaced the ccv recently and now it has this knocking noise. Just seems to run rough and down on power. This video is on start up so engine is cold. Have not let it fully warm up yet. Is this a vacuum issue? You can hear the noise most from right on top at the rear of the VC. You can also hear the knock at the rear of car from exhaust. I have actually pulled the intake manifold and reinstalled it 3 times thinking I must have missed something. All seems ok. I am pretty sure the vacuum pump seals need doing badly, thats the smoke in the video. Could this be part of the issue?

Worried it might be rod knock but checked oil filter and no signs of metal shavings.

Found this fat boi in my garage this arvo. Not sure how he got in. I'm in Brisbane.  Should I put him outside or leave him be. It is wet outside atm. Just worried he might starve in the garage if he can't get back out. I left the door cracked open this arvo but he doesn't seem interested in leaving. No animals inside so he can stay as long as he wants. Could it be a female and preggers? Thoughts anyone.

What is this white stuff on Tomato plants

Anyone know if these trails are closed due to the recent rain? I can't see anything on the BCC website to indicate either way. The ones at Bunya and Samford are closed till the 7th now, which is a bummer.
