The album is definitely not as high energy as other pieces in the genre and certainly not in the 1980s. But I think the crisp production, the haunting themes. and the mix of instrumentation is worth a listen by anybody who just thinks of Thomas Morgan Dolby Robertson as a novelty artist.
"Dissidents" is a great lead track with an anxiety-inducting theme of cold-war accusations and fear of censorship. "Screen Kiss" is an all-time favorite track of mine. It makes me feel nostalgic for a time and place I never knew. And "Hyperactive" is a great 80s synth and sample fueled, Hi-NRG piece that easily competes with The Human League and Talk Talk for memorability.
Overall it's an album I've love
