What is the structure and interactions like between the aircrew and mission crew on something like an E-3? Do they consider themselves more or less one crew, or more like two separate crews? In what situations is the mission commander the final word, and in others the pilot? Are they joint co-equals in pre-mission planning? Is it similar on other specialized mission aircraft with large crews, like Rivet Joint or the old JSTARS? And how is this different on smaller aircraft, like an E-2?

Thanks!

I haven't gone through everything, but I just noticed that the extended PLS Super Coupons have the shop fans for $89, while during the PLS they were $99 (just double checked the flyer). Don't remember seeing this previously; have they done this before? Any other items cheaper during the extended PLS?

The LCRA gauge on the Pedernales at Fredericksburg is showing it currently floating at 63k cfs and 10 feet above flood stage, with more widespread rain still falling in the headwaters. The next gauge downstream, at the LBJ Ranch at Stonewall, is currently still only showing 1k cfs. That’s an absolute wall of water headed downstream, and will come up exceptionally fast. If you are anywhere in a low area near the Pedernales, I would find high ground now.

Has anyone ever gotten a definitive answer on why Ryobi discontinued the Tek4 battery line (and orphaned a bunch of pretty fancy/expensive tools in the process), only to resurrect almost the exact same thing a couple years later with USB Lithium, but in a format that wasn't backwards compatible? They're both basically a minimal skin on an 18650 cell, so they almost had to go out of their way to not make it backwards compatible. I saw some mention that they might have actually licensed or co-owned the Tec4 battery format with one or more other companies (apparently MagSwitch still uses it), but there wa

Have had this a while but hadn't had a reason to use it yet. Ended up needing to break up a big concrete base around a sign post, about 2 feet in diameter and a foot thick, sledge hammer wasn't making a dent. Got a 5/8th SDS bit and a set of rock wedges and got to work. Probably drilled around two dozen holes 10" deep to split it into five big chunks, and the Ryobi handled it like a champ. Didn't force it, just let the bit do the work, and it chewed through both the cement and some pretty hard aggregate without complaint. Completely exhausted a full 6ah HP battery in the process, but that feels about right, and I have plenty of batteries if it was going to be a bigger job. Would have to see

Does anyone know if there is a group or forum for people who collect antique or vintage vacuum tubes? I don't, but one of the university surplus auction sites I follow appears to be auctioning off the collection of one of its EE professors (it's massive), and I feel bad that it appears to be getting very little attention. If there are people out there who appreciate that sort of thing, especially given their foundational involvement in the development of modern electronics, it'd sure be nice for them to go to a new home instead of end up binned. Feel free to pass the link on to whoever you think might be interested.

Has anyone here torn down an Anova chamber vac? I've looked around but I can't seem to figure out what sort of pump it uses, other than it's likely not an oil-bath type. Dry fixed vane, flexible vane, diaphragm, piston, or something else? Thanks

Searched but couldn’t find it. Does anyone know what the max amp draw is on the Herc 12Ah battery with the 21700 cells? Either momentary (what the BMS will allow before cutting out) or sustained (before the thermal cutoff triggers), preferably both.

Thanks!

Quick question: First year growing fingerling potatoes in a container. I know the normal advice is to wait for the foliage to die back before harvesting. So these were planted late, and we had an early cold snap, so I moved the container into my greenhouse. They're probably at around 3 months and they're just kind of... there. Still a lot of bushy green foliage; doesn't look like it's putting on any new growth, but also not dying back, except maybe a bit of brown at the leaf tips. Had a couple small flowers maybe a month ago but no more. In fingerling potatoes, is the foliage die-back time or temp dependent? Is there a point at which I should force it, and if so, how? Thanks!
