We have a Kitchenaid Professional bowl lift mixer, almost 18 years old. Recently the speed selector jams when trying to slide it off, around speed 2. Spouse unplugged it to turn it off.

I opened it up to see if there was some food or something jamming it, but it seemed clean and instead it seemed to be hitting the mounting post. With some adjustments its not so bad, but it still jams a bit.

Are there and solid fixes for this kind of problem? Most of what I've found relates to food or other trash jamming the works.

We are renovating our kitchen, and want to light primarily with recessed downlights. In a recent closet makeover we replaced Boob lights with 4” recessed Trimless lights from Maxxima, which we really like. However, the spouse would like the ability to change light temperature (and optionally colors) with an app, instead of pulling the lights and tweaking a hidden and hard to access switch such as on the Maxxima.

Are there any options that fit this? I know I could get the puck style lights where the light is mostly flush with the ceiling, but I think the ones like Maxxima where the light source is above the ceiling height are more comfortable.

Alas, I am not seeing any that allow any app b

Earlier this year my old Dewalt mower failed. Feels like a bad connection, it just didn't try to start. Tried everything Customer Support & I could think of, reseating batteries, key, different batteries, nothing worked. It was 3.5 years old, so I got a new DCMWSP700Y2.

I still have the 2x12ah Flexvolt batteries, in theory worth 75% of what I spent on the mower, but I hate the idea of dumping the mower in the landfill. I held on to it thinking I might try to find the short/break, but I'm admitting now thats not going to happen. Any good kits to make an electric go-kart / bike with a 40V mower motor? Would a metal recycler want it for the copper? Do do I just need to accept its trash?

Hey BIFL'ers! Over the years our classic Oneida Easton flatware collection has suffered, a combination of kids and big events having random cutlery lost or tossed. Did a big round up and while we have 20 knives, we only have 10 teaspoons. Search for best places to buy replacements, I came across Reddit BIFL posts saying the quality had dropped substantially.

Enter me. I have my original 6 place setting set, given as a gift when I got my first apartment in the mid-1990's. In 2008 or so, I picked up a deal on 12 sets direct from Oneida. And now, I have replacement teaspoon and salad forks to compare. They are still listed as 18/10 stainless, which is an excellent stainless grade for flatware.

Working on same 2"+ thick Ash for a table project, my plan had been to joint/square the edges with my table saw, but the mass is making it too difficult, so I am thinking "plan B" I don't want to invest in a tracksaw (DCS520), the the past I've used a simple jig I made from hardboard as a track/straitedge with some success (Built my dining room table with this method). But I'm wondering if I should step up to commercial jig, like the Kreg Accu-cut XL or the MilesCraft Track Saw Guide with the track extensions I would need drop $180. Has anyone tried these gu

Suddenly my Nest+Yale lock is glitching, it keeps throwing itself into Privacy Mode, which I now know means "You can't unlock it from the outside". It does this while teh door is open too, which causes the bolt to extend and preventing the door from closing.

Pulling the battery to reset it works briefly, and I've checked the button to confirm nothing appears stuck.

Any ideas on fixing it beside just buying a new lock?

Does anyone know if Oak Street does sales regularly? I'm been thinking of getting a nice pair of boots and realized I don't care for the Red Wing / Iron rangers details, and Allen Edmonds, my usual shoot/boot choice, isn't making what I want either, I like the OSB shape and really like one of the Limited Editions they have out, but will struggle with the full MSRP.

Looking at past Reddit Posts, seems they have done summer sales before in like 2020, but don't see recent references.

As I understand it, Apple Stores have pulled the O2 sensor enabled watches from the shelves, and any new watches the ship out with have the O2 functionality disabled. However, old stock at authorized resellers may still have this functionality.

O2 function is not a deal breaker, but if we can keep it, we would prefer. Any way to identify old stock from new?
