So I just got a chance to play through the just-released Virginia, a 2hr first-person story game. While I generally enjoyed my experience playing through the story, I kept on asking myself "Why bother even making this a game?"

Virginia seems to be one of the most extreme examples of making a game cinematic. Forced letterboxing and a suggested 30FPS lock are used, according to the devs, for stylistic reasons. Even though the game is first-person, your movement is often restricted, and the camera is often either completely fixed, or has limited movement. In most scenes, there is often only one thing to interact with at a time, making the game highly linear.

Of course, many other games fo

...about the future of gaming as an artistic medium?

Seriously, I played through this game over a month ago, and I still catch myself thinking about it from time to time. I'd like to think I'm reasonably cultured, but no other book, movie, TV show, etc has hit me as hard as Life is Strange.

Video games are still pretty nascent as an artform, so it's surprising that even current games are able to surpass other mediums in terms of impact.

I can't wait to find out what amazing works of art we'll get to play through ten or twenty years from now.

I just finished the game last and can't stop thinking about it, so I thought I would decompress by sharing some of my thoughts.

To me, one of the recurring themes of the game was the importance of memories, and I thought that the game showed that the memories that we keep allow us to overcome death and loss. Some examples of this:

  • The fact that Rachel was such an important character even though she only existed through the memories of the other characters.
  • Paralyzed-Chloe wanted her last moments to be alongside Max, reminiscing about the past.

I think that at face value, the storm destroying all the characters that we worked to help throughout the game may seem tragic. After all, what

After mounting my EFI partition, and running File > Import Configuration on /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist, all the settings boxes and options seem to be greyed out. There's no error message, and I am able to boot without problems, so I don't know what's wrong.

Here's my config.plist if you want to take a look:

Update: I uninstalled then reinstalled my Configurator. For some reason that seemed to work.

Hello all,

I'm trying to install 10.10 on my build by following the following instructions: http://www.rampagedev.com/?page_id=144

This is my hardware:

ComponentType
MotherboardAsus X99-A
CPUIntel 5820k @ Stock Clocks
GPUNvidia GTX 760
RAM32GB Kingston HyperX (4x 8GB DIMM, 2133MHz Quad Channel)

I'm stuck on Part 8, roughly a minute into the boot process after launching Clover. Here's an image of the error message. I should note that I don't have any Bluetooth or WiFi interfaces installed on this computer.

I tried the following boot flags, each gives the same error:

-v npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1

-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 kext-dev-
