Morgue

I decided to do a speedrun and I'm thinking this game is worth a writeup. Before we get to the wall of text here, have some rune times:

13070: Gossamer

14123: Decaying

20052: Silver

24195: Golden

26011: Slimy

29266: Bone

30906: Icy

32319: Iron

33272: Obsidian

34170: Demonic

35099: Fiery

36508: Dark

37348: Glowing

39309: Abyssal

39772: Magical

40985: Orb of Zot

41621: Escaped

The theory behind this run was that the biggest thing which eats up turns and time is standing still waiting to heal, so my play was built entirely around never, ever healing. This made the God selection trivial --

Whelp I've said this before, but since the winds of change are up I might as well say it again.

DR desperately needs a world-spanning gwethdesuan. I wandered back to Ratha last week and it is just... so isolating. The Crossing 'gweth net isn't busy by any means, but out in Qi you're lucky to get a thought an hour. You're alone in the world and have no idea what is happening.

This is bad. There's an easy option for isolation already -- do not wear a gweth -- but no option to be connected. One of the big complaints I've heard over and over is that "nobody plays this game," which feels very true at times.

And honestly, if we feel like going the extra mile we can just break the Moon

So I've been using a Chromebook for about a year now and by and large I've been pretty happy. I have been running a standard installation of Chrubuntu and switching between that and ChromeOS. The only problem I've had is that a couple months ago the Ubuntu install went unstable and I had to rebuild it from nothing -- but that wasn't so bad, as the old chroot was there to strip data from.

Today, on the other hand, I ran into an issue what has me seriously reconsidering using this machine for anything other than a casual internet browsing device.

Its the holidays. We're travelling. My girlfriend wanted to browse the internet, so sure, she could totally use the Chromebook. It was out o

Morgue File. Wall of text:

Okay, lets talk about failure first. The fundamental idea here was to have an ogre of The Shining One with a holy giant spiked club beating down Cerebov. That's all I wanted. I had been playing more defense-focused characters recently and wanted to see what all-out offense would look like.

Unfortunately, Ogres are a pretty rough race to get off the ground. Their early game is a cakewalk, but there's a really difficult spat at level 10 or so, right around the time where orc warriors start to show up and their outright pitiful defense catches up with them. I splatted about a dozen ogre gladiators while working from a "whelp,

So I've been failing hard at OgGl of TSO for a few days now, so I've packed it in and have gone back to OgFi. In this latest game an altar of Okawaru spawned almost in sight of the dungeon entrance, so I figured it was a sign and decided to do the standard Oka early game, TSO late game and converted.

On the second level I found a wand of digging, and on the third level I found one of those little Trog alter vaults where there's a "terrified wizard" behind a grating who Trog burns alive as you approach -- you know, as an illustration of what to do for some of the slower races.

Now obviously I wasn't going to convert to Trog, but I did want that sweet, sweet corpse piety for Okawaru. T

After last week's Undead challenge, I think we should stick with the evil theme. This week's challenge: use Lugonu's power to call forth the Abyss on as many levels as you can.

You must begin as an Abyssal Knight. One point is awarded for each "Corrupted [level]" entry in the morgue file, where that level is not Pandemonium or another infinitely-generatable area. The goal is to extend the Abyss as far into the material plane as possible, so all this nonsense with Orbs and Runes is enlirely opwionol aTd 3epLly wo-le FF bett@JerEr3r SSSSroom a! q$mmn$i [unformed](http://members.upc.ie/innsmouth/Bibliography/EBOOK%20H.P.LOVECRA

God, this was a trial. I am my own worst enemy. Here, have a wall of text.

So I got interested in the DCSS weekly challenge, mostly because I've never played any of the undead before. I noticed a lot of hate in the thread for Ghouls so I thought, hey, why not, and tried to get a Ghoul fighter all the way to the end.

Just as a side note, I've learned that Ghouls are absolutely awesome in every way. They're immune to poison, which means a big early-game threat is gone, and they have de-facto immunity to hunger through about 90% of the game. More than that, they can't be drained, have innate cold resistance, heal off chunks, and cannot acquire crippling mutations. Oh, and blanket tormen
