I am looking for a few examples of a dynamic in which there is a mentor that is pretty harsh and maybe jaded and doesn't want to train the protagonist (or not necessity the protagonist) but the young disciple stubbornly shows up again and again until they manage to get their tutelage

Or maybe even a variation in which the mentor isn't exactly saying they are their master yet shows them the ropes through other means

It isn't that they are more or less sexy but that they don't look anymore contextualized in the urban setting or to their personality.

I didn't quite grasped what bothered me about it in fairness until I realized it was all about the fact they stand out too much as eccentric, no one would normally wear such clothes.

Now I am not saying the earlier designs weren't anime or eccentric on their own but at their core they all wore urban modern fits that were comprehensive of actual clothing that exist: Pants, skirts, blouses etc.

Early on, the girls of the game were pretty damn cool and not everyone had to be forcefully paired with the main character. They allowed some to be their own person and just be focused on other things.

Be it Grace, Burnice, Koleda. Sure, they threw in some waifu-bait aswell but it wasn't literally 99% of the characters.

God it would be so cool to have some agents actually not fuck with the Proxies at all. Like be them evil, be them assholes or just not impressed with them. It could be on various shades of grey ofcourse but I do get tired to always see the forcefulness in which every agent is eventually going to glaze to high heaven the Proxies just because they are nice and kind.

That really does flatlind the relationships in the game, making them predictable and at times forced.

I know I am going to be either downvoted to hell and back or merely ignored but I had to say my piece. I am an hetero male who started ZZZ for two reasons: The hot girls and the cool gameplay.

I have played the game since 1.1 so I dare you to call me a tourist. I have not that much of an interest in male characters either aside Lighter, who was genuinely cool but I skipped Hugo, since I had no need for him but I do occasionally pull for male characters if they are well written or interesting.

This is the premise, so I am not some kind of rabid Manato fan or someone who wants husbando characters to be 50/50 because at the end of the day, I am here for the hot girls mainly.

The more we dive into 2.x (i know it's a bit early) the more I can't help to think Wise/Belle learning Mystic Arts and shifting their vibe towards chinese magic mumbo jumbo is...an incredible disservice.

First of all, it's not organic in the slightest. How do we go from very grounded sci-fi hackers to...literally magic? It's just a huge deperature from the starting point and not even done well.

Second, I can accept the Proxies picking up fighting skills down the line sure but it's not earned in the slightest so far

First of all, Not that I am a champion of morality myself but at this point the majority of the ZZZ fandom being so open about lewding overly young looking characters on official channels or the main channels of discussion nonetheless is actually crazy

I don't mind it so much on characters like Lucy who is just petite but she has a proper adult personality and doesn't feel like a child but people just lewding freaking Soukaku who is an actual kid that draws with pastels and so on, dude...I feel like that is extremely uncomfortable.
