Maleceptor base

Basing/Terrain

Building my first Maleceptor and was wondering the best way to stick it to the base. I use plastic cement for most of my models, but the front claws touching the ground don’t seem like they tough enough to be a good contact point, so with only the back hooves I’m worried it won’t be sturdy enough. I chose the default pose so I don’t have the dead space marine as a contact point.

Maleceptor

Casual Play

I’m thinking about what my Vanguard Onslaught list could use and while I’m pretty much good on the basics, but I’m thinking of getting a Maleceptor. I’m curious if anyone has used a Maleceptor in either Recon or Disruption Vanguard Onslaught/Ambush Predators, and if so how you used it.

I know Neurotyrant plus Zoans is the meta right now in the detachment for ranged damage, but it’s pricey both in money and points so I’m thinking of using a Maleceptor as a distraction carnifex that can deal with some things from range.

This year I started Tyranids and focused on Vanguard Onslaught. What I have so far:

Deathleaper

1 Winged Hive Tyrant

2 Biovores

2 x 10 Genestealers

Biovore

2 Hyperadapted Raveners

1 Raveners

1 Lictor

1 Neurolictor

1 Psychophage

6 Von Ryan's Leapers

I plan on getting Red Terror when it gets an individual release and at least one more Lictor and Neurolictor.

I'm wondering if there is anything I'm really missing, like do I need battleline for screening my Lictors while they are doing actions.

Lastly, is there a generally agreed upon number of Raveners vs HA Raveners for VO? They were the first unit I bought of Tyranids and it would feel right to have 2 of each variety.

Glue removal from base

Hobby & Painting

I recently finished building a winged hive tyrant and magnetized the base by gluing a magnet rubber sheet over the bottom of the base. Only problem is I forgot to glue a weight first under the base to deal with the top-heavy nature of the model. I’ve never tried removing superglue before and I’ve seen people recommend freezing for a few hours or soaking the base in isopropyl alcohol, but before doing either I wanted to be sure I didn’t make mistakes.

Is putting the model in a plastic bag necessary before freezing? The Tyrant is a pretty big model so I’m concerned about damaging the more delicate parts, or is it safe to just put it in the freeze as-is? I’ve also heard various people saying t

VO next purchase

List/Roster Analysis

So I’ve finally got 1000 points of Tyranids and am trying to focus on building Vanguard Onslaught, and I’m trying to come to a decision on what to get next. My current units are:
2 x Hyper Adapted Raveners
6 VRLs
Psychophage
10 Genestealers
Broodlord
Biovore
Lictor
Neurolictor

I’m not trying to be super optimal but want to lean melee as much as possible. Currently I’m thinking Winged Hive Tyrant, another box of Genestealers I run as 2x5, Deathleaper or Maleceptor. I’m also interested in Neurotyrant and 6 Zoanthropes and know they are popular, but with my budget I’d need to spread out that purchase and I’m not sure how immediately impactful just 3 Zoanthropes or just a Neurot

Raveners 1000 points

List/Roster Analysis

I’m developing my first 1000 points in Tyranids and already have a unit of Hyperadapted Raveners. I’m hoping to run Vanguard Onslaught and get a second box of Raveners, but I’m wondering if it’s generally better to run a single 10 man with regular Raveners or 2 units of 5 Hyperadapted.

Obscure Alternate Builds

Hobby & Painting

Over the past year as I've gotten into 40k, there are some models that I didn't learn about for awhile had alternate poses or other aesthetic choices, like the different Lictor poses for the dual wielding option for the Custodes Blade Champion. I was just curious if anyone had any other examples of these kinds of rarely seen options, and not just non-meta wargear options, that someone who has only seen the mini in passing would not realize. Personally I've started to get into Tyranids and didn't realize until now that Purestrain Genestealers had the tentacle face option.

So I’m starting into Tyranids as my second army and wanted to start going towards a casual 500 point list. Currently I have Hyperadapted Raveners, a Lictor, Leapers, and a Psychophage. The remaining points I need are in kind of an awkward spot and I’m hoping to stick with recent kits as much as possible. I’m mainly wondering what are the most pressing gaps I need to fill role-wise that use as much of what I already have as possible. Thanks.

I thought about saving this for after the season finale this Sunday, but was thinking about Dunc from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and what his colors would be. Now I’m open to hearing if people think he’d be neither of these, but I feel confident in saying he’s at least Boros, core White.

The main dilemma is whether his desire for fitting into society and upholding traditions (as well as his natural size which he takes advantage of) is surpassed by his desire to shape his own fate and become something more than his birth determined for him.

Hearthguard without Deep Strike

Casual Advice and Feedback

So recently I acquired enough Hearthguard to have 15 total, but I'm still relatively new to 40k and only recently remembered the points restriction on how much of your army can start in Reserves. I really like Hearthguard and Hearthband, it seems like even at 2000+ point armies you can only run so many. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck running some of their Hearthguard without Deepstrike, either hoofing it or putting them in a Hekaton.

Iron Master Lone Op

Votann Tipline (Help and advice)

I was curious, since it seems Iron Masters are only ever used leading Thunderkyn, if anyone has any experience or insight in utilizing Iron Master’s Lone Operative ability. What would be the ideal situation to use them in this capacity.

Generalist v Specialist Detachments

Casual Advice and Feedback

I'm somewhat new and still in the "collecting a bit of everything/what looks cool" phase, and trying to get a sense of how well each detachment does in terms of requiring investing in specific units or not. As far as I can tell, Needgaard is the most general while Delve is the one that wants you to go heavy into Cthonian units specifically. My question isn't necessarily about which Detachment is best, but how much investment into a specific type of unit is recommended for each.

I’m assembling my first Kill Team, Hearthkyn Salvagers, and I’ve assembled all of the operatives I want except for the 10th. I know I can assemble all of them with other kits, but I was wondering if the Medic or Lokatr should be the last one I build. I heard both are generally lower in priority, and I don’t have any preference, so I was hoping to get more perspectives.

This is probably a long shot to ask but I recently remembered years ago, roughly around when Automata was coming out, there was a particular video I found summarizing the events of Drakengard and how they lead into Nier. I don’t recall the channel it was on but basically it consisted of audio of one person describing the events to another person in a conversation while the scenes were on screen. I was trying to find it because I remember it being fairly funny and informative, but it’s been so long so I don’t know if it was deleted or if anyone else remembers it. I think I remember hearing that the owner of the channel had health issues so they stopped posting too. Thanks.
