i've been here about 3 months and am interested in meeting people into music production. i mostly make dubstep, garage, and ambient stuff. i'm 40 and live in the Belmont area.

i was doing well with my tapering and decided to give myself "one last hurrah"

we all know how this goes

walk down to the corner shop and get some cigarettes, something i quit years ago. over 5 years ago. why did i do this? i can't answer, not with anything substantive.

so here i am, working to quit two things instead of one. like another user said recently, there's no problem that alcohol can't make worse.

let's not-drink tonight. i'll be playing some Dreamcast games, cooking, or maybe online games with friends. the following days will be difficult but not impossible, i have to remember this.

i'm 38 and emulating my grandparents. it's terrifying. i've been telling myself that "yeah, i drink regularly but it's nothing extreme" and i know this isn't true. 3-4 tall cans of natural ice(6% abv), sometimes skipping a meal so it hits harder/faster. waking up feeling dehydrated, poor quality of sleep, weird dreams.

i need to take control of my life, take it back. i used to be so productive. i'd write music, play video games with friends, paint, play with my cat. the last few years, it's just been daydrinking and staring at youtube until i'm ready for bed. i know i'm depressed, i've been in therapy off/on since my early 20's.

in short, the game freezes on a black screen during the opening cinematic. i've tried a few fixes i've found that referred to Retroarch but nothing specifically for Garlic OS(i'm on 1.4.9)

disabling dynamic recompiler makes the game run incredibly slow and resolves nothing. changing the ps1 clockspeed does nothing, same for overclocking the handheld itself.
