Volume 2 is my least-favorite entry. I skipped it completely in my last read through. But in my latest re-read I braved it again and unexpectedly found new and clever setups and foreshadowing that I’d missed before.

It all comes from this part with Oll and the ascending Emperor, who is about to become the catastrophic warp entity called the Dark King. Oll attempts to convince him (through a custodian intermediary) to stop.

I found that everything the Emperor does in his later fight with Horus can be explained in their conversation:

”…What you’re becoming-“ ”My king has no intention of diminishing His power.” ”Then you should reconsider,” says Oll, looking Caecaltus Dusk in the eye…

Maybe this has already been discussed to death, but on my second read through it was just as intriguing. The scene where the small summoned demon worries about the disastrous possibility of the Emperor “waking” before the chaos gods “and [acting] upon what he now knows.”

So the implication is that during the effort to kill Horus, the Emperor gained some hidden knowledge dangerous to the chaos gods. Did he learn it when he temporarily possessed and used his god-intellect? When he killed Horus or while they fought across the expanse of time and space? Or maybe something as a result of Keeler’s successful intervention on his behalf.

So many possibilities, though I’m sure it will remain a

Does anybody have an idea of when the audiobook will be up outside the BL website? When End and the Death came out it was on audible etc even a bit early sometimes. now it looks to be late for this one. maybe they’ve altered their arrangement? I’ve had a credit ready to snag it for days.

Just a little put out because I was hoping to have it on tonight while I work on things, but I’ll settle for the text I suppose.

The idea that there will be some continuation now that the Heresy series is done seems to pop up a lot. But when you really think about it…The Scouring just doesn’t provide the necessary elements for an extended plot/story in the same way.

The main issue is the lack of stakes/an antagonist that poses a serious threat after Horus. Clearing out the ever-retreating remnants of the traitor legions definitely provides a lot of new settings for short stories and one-off novels, but not a grand narrative that could sustain a series.

Just something I’ve been thinking about lately.

I remember. Some of you are just averse to people doing optional things you don’t wanna do for some reason. I wouldn’t take issue with it as an opinion, but you try constantly to stop any new challenges from being implemented and act so aggrieved when they’re put in.

Some of us do like difficulty and challenges and fresh approaches that are not forced. Just a thought.

I’ve never had any problems with the game, have loved it, still do. took a month break and came back to an obvious change in how matchmaking works. Half the time now I’m paired with an afk host who hasn’t even chosen a map. Has happened so much now it’s really starting to bug me.

I guess they must have tried to improve the matchmaking somehow, though it never gave me issues before. But that’s not a good way to make it choose. A little baffling, to be honest. I guess it’s not working the way they intended it to in some way.

Anyone else experiencing this? Could just be bad luck for me, but I’ve seen others pulled in too when I am.

I had determined before that they went down with a single bolt/las rifle headshot on lethal on a previous run, but on this run I tried using my bolt pistol. It seems like they have close to the same health as regular Tzaangor? Only takes a few headshots to down them with a bolt pistol.

Just hoped this might help some people out. Much easier than spending ages blasting them with a melta or something.

The third of my ongoing “fencing works fine” series, this time on the Tactical class on ruthless Reliquary.

Still no sign of bugs or anything changing the fencing parry experience, even when I’m flailing about in terror.

This Reliquary run is very rough, you’ll probably be pleased to know! I play horribly. Since chaos marines have a fast windup with none of the long telegraphed pauses of tyranid majoris, missing parries is far easier, and I screw up several times. I flail about and parry late on minoris often. I even panic on the bridge against an extremis that surprises me and spam the parry animation in his face til he stabs me in the th

Just a bit of appreciation. I’m re-reading Saturnine because I love it. Came across this bit again from trooper Piers, who has just revealed his first name is Ollanius, as he suggests how his story should be written to Harry the “rememberancer”:

‘What I’m saying is, do it justice. Make a proper tale out of it, eh? It wasn’t no banner, it was the Emperor Himself. In person. I stood before the Emperor on the battlefields of Terra, to protect Him. Put myself in harm’s way, for His sake. And it wasn’t no raving World Eater, neither. Make it… say it was the Great Traitor himself. Big, bad Lupercal.’

”I’m not putting that,” said Harry

”Why not?”

”No one would ever believe it,” said Harry.

By request since it was thought that my first Vanguard parry window perks may have been helping my first fencing run post. This one was even more successful. Also by request, at 4:45 I made sure to take on a group of 5 majoris to get a multi-parry, which so many have said is no longer possible with the supposed huge change.

Again, this plays as it always has for me. Same “top of the swing” timing I’ve always used for fencing (and balance before it was changed to later timing). No noticeable difference at all. This timing is the easiest way to always get a parry.

I even got several blind behind-the-back parries by sheer guesswork. That’s ju

Once again like with every patch, people are claiming fencing is broken or bugged. The devs mentioned a “bug with parry”, but nothing more specific than that and no mention of what it even was. People have seemingly been spreading misinformation based off that, so I just recorded this fencing run.

Nothing is different for me. I only mess up timing and get hit once by majoris after first parrying a minoris. The rest is same as always.

5:50 and 6:12 show very quick parries of Lictor with only a moments warning (it looks like there’s a cut after the first, but was a bizarre perspective shift due to the extreme angle I took with the gunstrike I

I’m almost unable to count the number of “incidents” that I’ve had this year. I bike to work and virtually everywhere. Today I was riding across a very short yield-to pedestrian zone with my bike at 290 and 35, and somebody stopped inches from me and just laid into the horn. Totally absurd behavior, and it really drove home just how much I’ve been seeing it recently. Maybe it’s just happenstance.

The absolute craziest was a couple of months ago, when I started crossed an intersection a few seconds before the green (it’s on my daily commute so the timing is burned into me). A guy who absolutely was not going to make the turn before the signal change was apparently so offended by this action
