Most of you probably won't know what I'm talking about, but I'm putting this out there just because. I work in IT and I find this highly suspicious. Forgive the rant.

A few months ago I started noticing my home internet was being extra shitty. It'd work normally for a few hours, then randomly just quit responding for a while. I understand that this is the norm for some people, but I've had Spectrum in my same location for over 6 years now and this particular annoyance is a very new thing for me.

For as long as I can remember, Spectrum's Reno DNS servers have been verifiably geolocated in the Reno area. Makes sense, right? Now, suddenly, DNS services are being provided from COUDERSPORT FUCK

Almost every day I see a lot of misinformation about lasers on Reddit, and I've seen plenty of clickbait/engagement bait stuff from youtube and tiktok that only spread misinformation, so I wanted to make a post here to provide some learning to anyone who might be interested and not sure where to start. Lasers can be useful tools under the right circumstances, for more than just pointing at things. I highly recommend a nice laser if you're into stargazing, astronomy, photography, or just think lasers are cool!

My credentials: long time laser enthusiast/hobbyist, I own over a dozen class 4 lasers and more under class 4. I'm a DIY person, engineer, IT, gearhead, and lots of other things. Gener

AT&T provider, previously working on a 2016 LG V40 (Android 10) with no issues. New phone is a Sony Xperia One III, Android 13, updated, patched, etc.

After getting a new phone, RCS was enabled and says "connected" but no messages will send as RCS, everything is SMS/MMS. It has been about 6 weeks since getting the new phone.

Yes, I've turned it off, waited a day, and turned it back on.

Yes, I've used the Google feature to reset RCS and deactivate all previous devices.

Yes, I've spent hours on the phone with AT&T doing everything from resetting the messages app to completely re-authorizing my phone.

AT&T says it must be an issue with the app or phone.

Any ideas?

I've got 8 H10 cells, of which one did the self-discharge thing right before I started hearing about it here, and all the rest seem to be fine. Some have been in use for at least a couple of years. Is it only certain batches that are bad, or do I have to get rid of all of them?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I'm at my wits end and willing to pay cash (paypal or venmo or whatever). All I want is for the 3 button navigation bar on Android 13 to have the back button on the right and history on the left. I've spent the last 12+ hours trying various methods for this and the best I've got is an ugly overlay app that sometimes crashes.

Xperia 1 III XQ-BC62
Android 13 build 61.2.A.0.472A
Bootloader unlocked, rooted, Magisk obviously

If this is something you would do I would pay a (probably) very fair price unless this is way harder than I'm imagining.

Most of us enjoy a nicely patina, be it copper or brass or silver or what ever, there's a certain classy look to that "aged to perfection" finish. I'll be the first to admit that I also appreciate my "shiny forever" lights that get meticulously polished after I carry them in my pocket, but I've been thinking about ways to accelerate patina other than the typical chemical solutions made to produce the look.

I know a couple of guys who are in to forcing patina on silver, and I've come up with some interesting methods myself, but none of them are particularly fast, and definitely not nearly "mad scientist" enough. Thusly, I propose two entirely new experimental methods of forcing patina.

Hey folks, I'm hoping someone might know of a place that would do polishing on art-type glass, not windows or windshields. I've got a big cast glass prism that I'm looking to have the roughness from cashing polished out, with more skill and patience than I have myself. I was going to call around to the big glass companies to ask but thought I'd check here first to see if anyone was aware of a place that would do something like this. Thanks in advance!

I'm not mad, USPS delivered it to the wrong address. Would have been cool if you gave it back, or made any attempt to get it to me, but what ever. Heres what you need to know though:

That is a custom specialized light that emits ZWB filtered 365nm UV light that operates at powers in excess of 10 watts. It will cook the shit out of your retinas and you won't even realize it until later. Don't point it at your face or in anyone's eyes. Even looking at the reflection for a minute will make your eyes feel like you've been looking into the sun all day.

Otherwise, enjoy it! Now I get to spend another chunk of money and wait several weeks for it to be built and shipped from overseas again!

Just curious for the community input.

  1. If I drop the pin on my exact location, is that shown to the dasher? (I live in an apartment complex and it seems like about 1 of every 5 deliveries they drive all around all over the place like they have no idea)

  2. About half the time I get messages from the dasher they are translated INTO Spanish and I have to translate back myself. Do I have a preference somewhere that says I speak Spanish? (Different than Spanish speaking dashers getting translated into English)

Bought a 2017 Passat (NMS? MQB?) with the 1.8TSI engine and 09G transmission, with only 27k miles. First off I understand that the Passat is not a high performance car or really meant to be a tuning platform, but I've always enjoyed tinkering with my vehicles for fun, and I enjoy an occasional spirited drive, so I'm content to simply polish this turd a tiny bit as a daily driver, focusing on reliability.

  1. I've read about the 09G transmission dying after following VW's recommendation to never have it serviced, but I'm hoping at such low mileage I can get ahead of any problems and keep it running for many more years. Is it feasible to drive "sporty" while not worrying about the tra
