I'm watching the original Muppets episodes on Disney Plus, and while watching this singer (honky-tonk/country?) Roger Williams sing, it sounds like this could be the origin of Andy's Rit-dit phrase? Listen at around :30 seconds in. It sounds awfully close!

IIRC Ed Helms said this was a phrase his friends used as kids... and his age lines up close to the Muppet Show peak in popularity. Maybe they heard it on the show and repeated it? This episode aired in 1979, and Ed would have been about 5 years old.

Hoping you all have some advice for us!

We have a 65 B8... almost exactly 2 years old. Already had 1 panel replacement due to a dead pixel at about 6 months in. Now on our 2 year purchase anniversary, we get a very noticeable horizontal black line - maybe 8 inches from the top. You can't "not" see this - it literally ruins most things we watch. Called LG, they said they can't do anything. Asked to escalate, they said they same thing. I'm about done with LG as a company for eternity, unless someone can think of a way to remedy this? Anyone have better luck?

Anyone have any repair suggestions out closer to Dulles? Ideally west of Tysons? (Throwing some keywords in here for future searchers: Chantilly/Reston/Herndon/Ashburn/Sterling/Leesburg/Centerville)

I've seen lots of recommendations for some well-regarded techs working inside the beltway near I95, but I was hoping to find someone closer to the Route 28 corridor. Thanks!

I stumbled onto this Youtube channel months ago, and now's a great time to mention it. The channel focuses a lot on Pat Metheny/Music Theory and this specific link analyzes one of my favorite Lyle Mays solos, which IIRC is from a bootleg recording. There's some other Lyle Mays stuff in there too, so check it out!

(Thanks for making the world a better place, Lyle!)

We're getting a new roof tomorrow, and the roofing company dropped off 2 pallets of supplies. Despite having a double-wide driveway (can fit 2 rows of 3 cars), they managed to leave significant tire ruts in the (soaked due to 2 days of rain) lawn (which I work hard to maintain). Additionally, I have in ground sprinkler heads which may have been damaged - but it's too dark right now to determine if they hit any heads.

What should I tell these jokers prior to starting their job tomorrow? Should I demand the damage be repaired now? Or in the spring? The other problem is, I don't want them throwing down some crappy contractor seed - as silly as it sounds I use a specific type of grass (KGB) an

Anyone have a good approach to managing Youtube access? I don't want to outright ban it, because Youtube provides some great educational opportunities. The problem we're having is separating the good from the bad/unknown. We've debated enacting an approval system, where they come to us and we approve Youtube channels on an as needed basis, but with multiple kids... I can see that getting out of hand. Another option is we lay down the ground rules, and then monitor it via their Youtube account history. How are others handling this relatively new frontier (aside from banning it)? (Note the age range on this topic would be roughly 7-13)

(Quick aside: I tell my friends with high school aged kid

Looks like a CSX freight train derailed in Alexandria at a point where VRE lines converge. https://www.insidenova.com/news/freight-train-derails-in-alexandria-on-saturday/article_dd9092a4-5b60-11e8-a261-f779006403f6.html Maybe (?) they can clean this up by Monday and get some trains moving, but it looks like they may have to rebuild a rail bridge. The complicating factor is the train derailed and ended up on the rails below - impacting more than 1 line. Anyone who rides VRE may want to keep an eye out on how this develops.

(And re: the train, no one hurt, no chemicals involved - may have been caused by a washout due to rain.)
