Personally, I don't think I would do well in the Circus. I wouldn't want to bring another being into existence just to suffer and abstract. I don't think he'd last a year.

When Caine fingered out how to read mind files, he realized that with maybe a few tweaks he could use the algorithm for extremely powerful data compression. Models, texture, NPC behavior, and maybe even entire adventures could all be stored in an "impossibly small" data format so it can all fit on an ancient 90's computer.

What if before she entered the circus, she was taking medication for some sort of emotional disorder, so Caine came up with the mask gimmick as an alternative. (He was afraid to do much more for her because of what happened to Scratch.)
