I need a remote destination for my nightly Borg backups. I was going to use S3/Wasabi but the egress fees and API request costs are annoying to calculate.

I was thinking of just grabbing vps from virtarix or netcup, slapping a massive block storage volume on it (if they offer it?) or just using the native NVMe storage for critical docs. Since they claim unmetered bandwidth, the initial 500GB sync shouldn't be an issue.

Is the network stable enough for a long rsync/SSH stream or will the connection drop halfway through a big upload?

I run a WooCommerce store targeting the South African market. My current hosting is in the US and the site feels sluggish for my local customers. I know page speed kills conversion rates so I am looking to move the server closer to the target audience.

I saw that virtarix offers a Johannesburg location. Moving the site there would theoretically solve the latency issue but I have never heard of them before this week. I need the checkout process to be snappy and secure.

Is anyone else hosting e-commerce sites locally in that region and is the performance difference worth the migration effort?

I am looking at the high RAM plans on virtarix for my Jellyfin and Arr stack. The NVMe storage is the main draw for me because my current setup struggles with I/O wait when I am unpacking files. I do not care about fancy features I just need raw performance for the price.

Does anyone have benchmarks or real world experience with their disk speeds? I want to know if it is actually fast enough for multiple streams or if it is just marketing numbers. I am also curious where their servers are physically located because latency matters for me. Let me know if you think they are worth the migration effort.

I've been paying $24/month on DigitalOcean for a 4GB RAM droplet for my SaaS side project. Works fine but the cost was adding up since I'm bootstrapping this thing. Started looking at alternatives because honestly $288/year felt steep for what I'm getting.

Found a provider offering 6GB RAM, more storage and same bandwidth for literally half the price. Was skeptical at first because "you get what you pay for" and all that, but figured the 20% off promo made it worth trying for a month.

Two months in now and uptime has been solid. No random restarts or weird performance issues. Support actually responds within a few hours which is better than some "premium" hosts I've used. The control panel

I have been digging around for a super cheap vps in the eu, something I can use as a small vpn/proxy box. my basic needs are tiny: 2 core, 2 GB RAM, around 10 GB storage as ipv4 and like 200 Mbps bandwidth with 1 tb traffic.

The goal was to stay under $3/month but honestly its a pain finding anything that is not oversold or sketchy.

While searching I came across virtarix. their lowest plan starts at around $5.50/mo, which is obviously above my target, but the specs are way higher than what I actually need  3  cpu 6 GB ram 50 GB nvme unmetered bandwidth. servers in germany and the netherlands too.

Has anyone here tried them? Worth spending the extra few bucks for stability or should I kee

Hello I am fairly new to VPS hosting and I’m looking to get one for my business. I don’t mind paying for good performance, but I’d prefer to keep costs reasonable. I’ve tried a few free options before, but they weren’t reliable enough for serious use.

I’m mainly focused on privacy, speed, and scalability. Ideally, I’d like a VPS that offers high or unmetered bandwidth, runs fast and smoothly, and provides reliable uptime. I also want something stable enough to host my business operations without frequent blocks or downtime.

I know some providers promise “unlimited” bandwidth, but I’m aware there are usually fair-use limits. Still, I’d appreciate recommendations for VPS services that are tr
