With Eberron being a bit more murky on who is bad and who isn't, I like presenting my players with the option of siding with a normally "bad guy" or group.

As a DM, did you ever run one of the big bads as an ally to the party? I'm talking about characters like The Lord of Blades, Mordain, Erandis Vol, The Daughters of Sora Kell, etc... How did it turn out for you and how did you get them to be "good" so the players sided with them?

Does Truesight work with photographs?

Need Advice: Rules & Mechanics

Just a simple question to see how other DMs have ruled this unique scenario. Would truesight reveal the true nature of a creature if you have a photograph of that creature?

For example, if a disguised dragon is in a group photo would someone with truesight be able to see its original form?

Hopefully the title makes sense. I feel like sometimes when I'm running my games, I come up with a situation where the players want to do something that sounds simple enough that I figure it should be in a book somewhere. After some digging, I realize I can't find it because it doesn't exist. What are some situations where you as a DM or player ran into this?

A personal one I've recently experienced is seige weapons and my players wanting some for their ship. The new 2024 rules list a bunch of fun and cool options, but there's no associated cost with them or their ammunition. Ended up having to make a decision with unofficial information.

So I understand that the overlords are seriously bad and are essentially world-ending threats. But I've been reading and couldn't really find much about how overlords interact with the other planes of Eberron. Like, Rak Tulkhesh could cause a massive war in Eberron but if it tried to extend its dominion to another plane wouldn't the Panoptican notice and the Kolyarut enact judgement? Would Dral Khatuur be able to freeze Kythri's sea of chaos or would she be affected by the plane?

My players are approaching the endgame and I've set it up so there's a few options for what they can try going after. Ultimately, they'll probably end up trying to prevent an overlord from being released.

But a

In EE under the Mror Holds section on page 116, there's a line that reads

"Clans that have embraced the use of symbionts—notably Soldorak, Toranath, and Narathun—"

It's in both the DM's guild release and in the 2024 release for DnDBeyond. There is no Toranath clan. Reading further into the specific clans, it looks like it's probably a typo and they meant to write Soranath. Is that the general consensus? Couldn't find any discussion on this error anywhere else.

Before everyone gets mad, let me explain what I mean. My proposal is to allow players the ability to earn pets while playing F2P but do not allow them to have a pet follow them without membership. Upon earning a pet, they could get a message that resembles "You have a funny feeling like you would have been followed if you had membership..." as well as a message that let's them know they can claim this pet from Probita in Ardougne if they get membership.

Because there's only a limited number of pets they can earn (golem, beaver, heron, etc) it would be a nice surprise for them and something they could look forward to upon activating their membership. They'll have a collection log slot filled

We've already considered everything a total loss but just wanted to create this thread in the one in a million chance someone comes across the boxes and to warn others of the shady business there.

About a month ago, maybe more, we had a storage locker broken into but they just told us last week. We've filed a police report but that place is completely uncooperative with helping us and won't even refund us for the time when they knew our locker was empty. Pretty shitty business and would recommend avoiding them.

It was only a couple of boxes and they didn't have much outside of some clothes, sentimental stuff, and documents so if it was homeless they probably just dumped it. Like I said, we

Quick background, I've been DMing for several years now. I volunteer at my local library as a DM and am currently wrapping up a campaign I've been doing for the past few months (a re-skinned Waterdeep: Dragon Heist in Eberron) that takes 2 hours per session. We started with 9 players (a nightmare) and are wrapping up with 4 who've been here consistently. Seeing as I'm going to be wrapping up, I'm kind of left with three options on where to continue from here. I was going to ask the current 4 players as well on what their opinion is, but it seems like we might have had more players sign up for future sessions with the library with minimal numbers of DMs.

  1. Continue the campaign from where e

I wanted to hear other people's experiences and stories of games that were inspired by or just ripped off of some other media. Some things don't translate well to DnD so I'm sure people will have some nightmare stories as well. Or do you have a dream campaign you've been dying to run or play in that's inspired by a game or movie but havent had a chance yet?

Looking forward to seeing what people post.
