Need a rules check before I go attempting to recreate the situation for a bug report, as silly me didn't take a screenshot

Caught a spellslinger / storm deck, brought in [[Damping Sphere]] out of the sideboard, but then noticed that I could not activate my [[Field of Ruin]] effects.

Aside from the sphere, the only permanents in play were a couple small creatures with no land or activated ability related effects.

I couldn't figure out what might have been blocking the Field, except that maybe the Sphere was preventing the 2 mana cost in the effect for some reason. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Also, apologies to my opponent if you happen to read this. Tabbed out after I ran out of

[sg] I have 12 male, level 1, 5IV Quirky Eevees looking for a home. 8 have the hidden ability Anticipation, the last 4 have Adaptability.

Let me know which Pokemon your'e offering on the GTS, it's level, and put "Draco" in the message.

EDIT: 6 Anticipations and 1 Adaptability down at this point. 2 Anticipation and 3 Adaptability left.
