Wand and Weapon

Game Feedback

Saw a request for dual-wielding wands (and sceptres), don’t love that.

But it reminded me of something we should have: martial weapon with a wand in offhand. There’s vanishingly little reason to do it, thanks to weapon swap. But we should be able to; it would look cool and maybe it does enable something neat. At this point I’m worried they’re going to make it an ascendancy node on Shadow or Templar, which I think is a poor play. If nothing else, whichever one you choose, the other also deserves the option.

I really want to see a unique jewel with

Limit: 1
Walk the Path Not Taken to <random unseen notable>

Between the limit, the cost of the jewel socket, and needing to actually get this unique jewel, I feel like the Oracle’s uniqueness is protected (particularly with Entwined Realities allowing the Oracle to jump around to a bunch of different notables).

Alternatively, instead of a unique jewel, it could be a special distill option, replacing your usual instilled notable with opening up a path, but you still have to actually spend the passive points. That becomes a huge cost and I’m not sure anyone would ever want to do it, though. Just being able to straight-up instill an unseen notabl

I haven’t messed with them a lot, but I had wanted an easy way to meet Ignited conditions (I actually tried to use Syzygy >.>), and so I tried Burning Inscription and Flame Wall. Even with some points thrown into Fire-starter and the Flammability nodes leading to it, I basically never ignite anything. Things tend to die with less than 10% Flammability.

Obviously, I wasn't really pushing hard for ignite, I just wanted the enemy ignited without caring how much damage it did, but it didn’t seem right. I have 2.9k Mana, so Burning Inscription seems like it should have been decent? Did I do something wrong, or are these skills in a really bad place, or strictly the province of fire specialists?

I want different demon forms, that you can fluidly switch between. Hell, I’d love to do a hybrid build with a Talisman on swap and switch between demon and and beast forms. The gameplay on Druid is so fluid, and demon form is just so clunky.

I get it, it’s power at a price, it literally burns your life-force away, etc etc. But it’s clunky. And Blood Mage is the cares-about-life ascendancy; it’s weird that Infernalist turns around and does a bunch of that too, between demon form and the life-reservation nodes.

I liked Infernalist, until I saw Druid. Now I know it can be so much better.

My son is bumbling through the campaign as Mercenary with my help, just finished Trial of Chaos. He really wants to use Tame Beast on a Crested Behemoth, the “laser triceratops” from the Trial. Really doesn’t care about mods, just wants to have one as a pet. But we have been through four low-level Trials without seeing a rare one.

Is there any better option for this? Somewhere else we can encounter them, where we can maybe find enough that one of them is rare? I don’t mind doing it with a high-level character and giving him the gem, provided that can be done without overwhelming his character’s ability to hit requirements.

Would not be opposed to ideas for how best to use it, either. Have

I want to do the new Holy Strike with the new Reliquarian ascendancy, mostly just because they strike me as the “newest” things to do and I’m getting stubborn about it.

Is there anything about the new Reliquarian that’s even relevant to Holy Strike after Victario’s? Maata’s Teaching is the only minion-based node, and it’s redundant with Holy Strike. The best option seems to be Terminus Est just for the movement and attack speed. Beyond that the only options seem to be Jack, the Axe just for the regen, or Replica Heartbreaker for impales off of some triggered spell, neither of which feels likely to be successful? I figure I’m going with Farrul rather than even bothering with any of the jewel

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems to me that it’s really awkward to hit Vine Arrow or Toxic Growth in order to poison them. It works fine it you use Gas Grenade or similar, but otherwise I seem to just miss them a lot (no “hit” sound effect, no glow from getting poisoned).

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it just kind of janky/buggy, or am I doing something wrong? I’m still pretty low level and haven’t tried that many things, but Poisonburst Arrow, Bow Shot with Poison III, Entangle with Poison III, all seem to not work very consistently (way less than the 60% chance to poison on Poison III). I’ve only really gotten them reliably with the ground-targeted poison gas abilities.

Every time I get to Grelwood and find the checkpoint to go to the Red Vale, I’m loading into that next zone just to collect its WP, then immediately going back to the Grelwood to keep looking for the rest of the stuff there. Likewise with almost every other WP in the game where there’s still stuff in the previous zone.

This is stupid.

It wastes my time looking at two back-to-back loading screens, it wastes resources on GGG’s servers, and it makes for a worse play experience. But I do it, because I’m a dad gamer and pretty often get called away—and if I DC and lose the instance, I’ll have to find that checkpoint again, and I hate that.

Instead, if I get the Grelwood checkpoint for the door

The wolves from Predator’s Mark (applied by Pounce) pretty much suck. They have a bug right now (if you die, they stop dealing or taking damage), but even when they’re not bugged, the damage is just poor. (Unless there’s some very surprising scaling on them, but it doesn’t seem like there is based on poe2db?) Moreover, they nonbo with the Wolf Pack spirit gem, because all of the wolves from Wolf Pack are a Companion, and benefit from companion nodes. The Predator’s Mark wolves are just minions, so they don’t.

Pounce itself is pretty strong (and does a ton of stuff), so buffing it directly seems problematic. It’s just the Pounce/Predator’s Mark wolves that are weak. Using them does have an o

Snapshot effects are oversights or bugs most of them time in many ARPGs, a way to game the mechanics to get the bonuses of another specialization without it costing anything from your primary spec. You don’t expect the game to signpost them, because they aren’t really meant to be a part of the game in the first place.

PoE2 is absolutely not like that. Between weapon sets and separate passive trees, you are clearly meant to use snapshots. The Druid is literally built around it, switch to a staff and spell tree, cast a long-lasting spell, and enjoy the snapshot as you switch back to animal form and attack. Jonathan even talked about this in his interview with Tri, noting—with some confusion,

Maybe this is obvious to everybody, but I haven’t actually played Monk yet, so I didn’t realize: the Monk in PoE2 is specifically from the Monastery of the Keepers that we can go to in the current PoE1 League!?

My life has been naught but discipline and focus, preparing me for this. I fight for the Benevolent Dreamer. Free my hands, and those who seek chaos will fall before me!

“The Dreamer” is what Ailith is always going on about in the Keepers league content. It was always clear that this referred to “Chayula, Who Dreamt,” but I didn’t put it together with the PoE2 Monk. I always assumed that the Acolyte of Chayula ascendancy was a kind of heresy thing, like Ritualist is for the Huntres

Everyone is talking about seamlessly moving from controller to mouse (which I also completely agree with), but: It seems to me that a joystick is the best way to move, but a mouse is the best way to aim skills. I would love to hold a controller in my left hand and move with the joystick, and a mouse in my right hand to aim skills (and navigate menus). My mouse and controller have enough buttons I can reach that way, though it might be really awkward—but with trying. And a dedicated joystick instead of holding a controller with one hand would be even better.

So I wanted to throw this suggestion out there. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.

Coming back from the Mine with stuff and having to choose between going back to hideout (losing the instance) or using Scrolls of Wisdom (annoyingly manual) just doesn’t add anything to the game. Mining shouldn’t be at this weird disadvantage.

It’s mostly pointless for Einhar; that’s just for consistency. But it kind of seems like a thing he could do anyway.
