First of all, let me say that I enjoyed it a lot, it's an overall extremely solid anime, not as iconic as Dragon Ball imo (probably just nostalgia) but does a few things better than it, like the character development and world-building, now I can understand why this anime is so popular and appears in so many tops.
What I liked:
-Character development and side-character relevance: this is probably one of the things I enjoy the most in any story, when the side-characters have their moment, it's clear Naruto is the MC and Sasuke the co-protagonist, but seeing so many great moments for other characters was amazing.
-World-building: it feels real and huge, although not so much at the end o
It's me, the guy that is watching Naruto for the first time, I was a little worried since the Pain arc, I loved it and the character but felt that Naruto and Sasuke were getting all the powerups while the side-characters were a bit useless in combat, like it was getting too much like Dragon Ball (love DB too btw) where all the characters just resist until Goku appears :\
It changed a bit when they started to introduce the kages and all those other interesting characters, but what convinced me was the Guy vs Kisame fight, at this point I was already expecting him to fail and be saved by Naruto, but that didn't happen and I'm so glad! now I'm sure this war will have great moments for sid
I know I know, I should keep watching, only watched 122 episodes from 500, not enough character development for him yet but I wanted to vent, because they >!killed Orochimaru!<, he may have been a "mustache-twirling villain" but he was also charismatic, creative with his jutsu and with a wider range of emotions, all of his fights have been extremely entertaining to watch (even his introduction) and then we have Itachi... this emotionless boy that's "just standing there… MENACINGLY!" and is so OP that so far gave me the two of the most "boring" fights, yeah his Sharingan is cool, aesthetically, but not that fun to watch... now apparently they will confront him and I have very low expectation,
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind small filler episodes between arcs, I liked the protagonism to side-character and some of the development felt good and genuine (like most about Hinata) but God! who thought it was a good idea to end that season, that was the bridge to Shippuden, with around 80 filler episodes in a row?? I felt that I was in a loop!
It paid off tho! all those mid episodes made me want to watch Shippuden even more, I started it (5 episodes so far) and I'm loving it, the difference of quality compared to those filler is huge, finally good villains again, character development, real stakes and the animation so far is pretty good, I guess I can thanks the filler episodes for
