What is DECA? What is the time commitment necessary to be successful at DECA? Is it a difficult activity compared to speech and debate (for context)? Is it only helpful or mainly just for people who want to go into business in college?

I am a freshmen and I want to look into what this is all about because I am trying out a lot of different stuff this year and seeing what I like but I also wanted opinions from other people. Thank you!

do you know if colleges prefer LD debaters or Policy or PF debaters or speech event people? just for a universal comparison, lets say they ALL won the toc in their junior year, and they had no other activities, which debater would the AO prefer? and also just generally what would they prefer?

also is debate a good activity to do? its not like a niche activity, a lot of people do it, so is it as valuable?

and finally do ao's evaluate like an nsda nationals win to a toc win the same? if im being objective, i think winning on the toc is going to be substantially harder, but i was curious about the admissions value.

**this is in the context of top ivy's and just top schools like stanford

how do u become more efficient with work when u have a sh*t ton of work and have like genuinely no time

Is doing band good for college admissions (if ur just casually playing for all 7 years (MS + HS), perhaps getting a leadership position later in HS), but doing nothing crazy. not getting many awards, and mainly just doing it for the participation and for the leadership position.

wouldn't be my main activity but just wondering how much this actually would help getting into any college and also specifically top tier colleges ie ivy leagues.

and a little irrelevant but do you guys preflow your constructives in LD or not?

on the flow do you guys try to align args to the best of your ability? or do you just respond in the order the opp responded? if the latter is the case then you probably don't align the args which means u would not be able to identify which args are "dropped" or not

technically does every single synthetic/long divison have restrictions?

for example

(x^3+6x^2+7x+3)/(x+2)

in this case

x+2 has a restriction since it is in the denominator so x CANNOT equal -2

is that wrong logic

I've been thinking abt it and I don't see a reason for why it would be wrong ...

demsos graphing calc never punches holes and empties that part so I am not sure
