Hi guys!

As the post title states, I'm being hit with some serious impostor syndrome at the moment. On Tuesday I will officially start my Physics PhD program along with a Graduate Teaching Assisstantship (GTA).

I am terrified.

I graduated with my bachelors in December of 2023, so I was out of touch for quite a bit. To try and mitigate that, I spent part of the summer doing heavy review, specifically on Classical Mechanics. I got to the pivotal Lagrangians and Hamiltonians and had to stop there due to a road trip.

The three classes I am to be taking are Electromagnetism, Mechanics, and Mathematical Physics 2. I feel okay-ish now for Mechanics, but haven't brushed up on ANY electromagn

Hello everybody, I wanted to make a post asking for strategies I can use to reduce the amount of time I spend trying to read Spanish literature. For context, I am currently taking this 4000-level course on Spanish Literature and the assigned readings are extremely time-consuming to read on account of their difficulty.

It is not necessarily the quantity of pages (although there are a lot) but more so the manner in which the text is written. It is very poetic and esoteric in its format in which the vocabulary used seems to not be terribly common to someone of my lower level—the skills I have cultivated so far are more geared towards reading straightforward, broad texts; I can read the Spanish

Tl;dr — I finally did what I should have done days ago and got the pricing for Vyvanse under my insurance, was happy to see that it is only $30 for a 30-day supply regardless of milligrams, and then disappointed that the cost is not universal, if not free. I only got this price through my mom's state insurance which I will lose when I turn 23 (or maybe 24?) in three years—nothing but pure luck and chance.

My psychiatrist asked me last Thursday when she diagnosed me to find out the cost of Vyvanse with my insurance and if it is even covered at all, since I started my 7-day trial of Adderall XR last Friday. Let me tell you, **I p

Tl;dr — I rinsed my hands with water into a big orange tub of sorrel water sitting in the sink, literally seconds after squeezing the juices from the sorrel plant into the tub; an example of big time forgetfulness and distraction.

So, I learned recently on account of my diagnosis that issues regarding the forgetfulness of an object’s location, whether by distraction or inattentiveness, can occur often for those with ADHD.

I cannot recall any specific examples growing up of this happening to me (I likely forgot them right after they occurred), but I experienced it today.

I am Jamaican, so every year my mom and I make sorrel for Christmas, a

Everything is so quiet. I feel like my body and mind has always been going several hundred miles per hour, but now it is just cruising; I feel very relaxed, my mind is not flitting from place to place. My thoughts are like a lazy river right now—is this how the average individual thinks?

Still fidgety, but I do not mind it as much as I would when I am off the medication (it normally irritates me when I realize that I am moving some part of me erratically).

Currently in the office room at home with a previously recorded lecture for Electromagnetism ready to go on my laptop. Let’s get to work.

Update: Diagnosis Confirmed

Questions/Advice/Support

I am here with yet another update!

I had the second appointment with my psychiatrist today where we continued to discuss the history of my symptoms. The score I received on the first part of the ADHD assessment was enough to increase the likelihood of me having Adult ADHD, so we dived into my history regarding such.

We talking at length about my school life, such as the perceptions my teachers had of me in elementary school and my social interactions with other students, the subjects I excelled in during school and what they were like for me, and my behavior in middle school and my attentiveness during class. We covered mostly the same topics for

I had my first psychiatrist appointment today!

I cannot begin to describe the struggle it took to even get to this point—I had two misfires for christ’s sake! The first appointment was cancelled because they scheduled me for Thanksgiving Day for some reason. The second one, the psychiatrist never opened up the Zoom meeting because she was new, I was her first ever appointment, and she did not know how to work Zoom I guess. I spent a stupid amount of time on the phone with the office trying to get that sorted out and a new appointment made with somebody more seasoned.

And then today! I actually had the appointment and got through it! Th
