Specifically to pick the ship. I've been using an Excel function to do it and I'm not sure how random that actually is.

What are your feelings about setting limits or rules? Example: I've rolled 4 Rock C runs in my series so far but not a Fed C yet (every other ship has at least 1). I just rolled a few more ships ahead to flesh out the schedule for the next few days, and one of them is another Rock C.

Is it better to reject that and re-roll to ensure I get a full cycle before getting more than say, 3 or 4 ahead, or just play it as it lays?

I realize a lot of this is personal preference, more just curious what people's preferences are.

So in my first playthrough, Mad Donkey gave me grief but after eventually besting him, I used that "Star Fragment" thingy on Scrapped Watchman and was all hey, that guy was way easier than the Donkey! By the time I started NG+ I had decided to not use specters anymore and fought him solo in both NG+ and NG++ cycles, no sweat. I think I even one-shotted him solo on NG+.

After getting Platinum I took a few days off but was still feeling that itch, so I started a new save file. Just for variety, decided to try a Motivity build using hard-hitting heavy weapons instead o

I made the mistake of opening my mouth about how easy he was in my NG+ run, so of course I get there on NG++ and he wiped the floor with me 4 times in a row to make a fool out of me.

Couldn't figure out what was going on, just was having a really hard time keeping enough distance and not getting hit, or safely getting a hit to the knee in. Thought maybe it's because I'm using proof of humanity instead of the trident, but then it suddenly clicked. I made a slight tweak to my setup and easily one-shot him the next attempt.

So if you're having trouble with this boss, just do this:

Put on the Patience amulet

The issue was simply one of not having enough stamina to both dodge and attack.

I know, it's a video game and shouldn't be overanalyzed. It could still be fun to speculate.

I've heard several people call the setting "French", but am not sure I've seen anything conclusive. The devs were probably going for "Generic Gothic European City". There's plenty of anachronisms in character dialog.

Some evidence I can think of off the top of my head:

  • The name "Krat" sounds vaguely German-ish to me, especially the way they pronounce it
  • Several of the records have lyrics in French
  • Elysion is Greek
  • Rosa Isabelle could be many different things - "Rosa" is a word in several languages
  • Estella is a latinized version of a French name
  • Frangelico is Italian
  • Lorenzini Venigni

Just finished NG+ and beat Nameless Puppet for the first time! Did real boy ending on first playthrough, this was the first time to face the big guy. Was going for, and got, puppet strings ending.

Got it on attempt #37 after about an hour and a half. What a rush though! Only two throwables used (2 well-timed shot puts). Overall I think It took less total time than Laxasia and maybe Simon.

Total time played: 87 hours.

Final level: 174
Vit: 43, Vig: 20: Cap: 61, Mot: 41, Tech: 41, Adv: 7

Used puppet string for most of the run but switched to Pandemonium for the last 2 bosses.

Now time for one more to get the missing stuff, whew!
