Hello! M3 here potentially interested in surgical oncology. I was wondering if any current or future surgical oncologists can share insight into their lives: from the types of procedures they regularly do, academic vs community centers, salary, lifestyle/call burden, clinic days vs OR days, can you do both breast and HPB, what other surgeries do you do, etc! I feel like it is one of the least talked about surgical subspecialties from general surgery, so would love any additional insight into this. Thank you so much!

Current M2 interested in general surgery and wondering if anyone has additional information on GS programs in CO, specifically St. Joseph’s vs University of Colorado. Culture, hours, exposure, matches to fellowships, PD, co-residents, how competitive, etc. Any insight is appreciated!

Retaking MCAT?

Question 🤔🤔

Retaking MCAT?

Hi! I recently got my MCAT score back, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether to retake or not. My score was a 515 (129/125/129/132). I am mostly concerned about my CARS score being close to the cut-off for some schools. I was scoring 518+ for most of my full lengths, around 127 on CARS, 130+ on CP, around 130 on BB.

I think I could score higher if I retake, but I also am hesitant because of the risk of retaking and scoring lower. I also don’t know if I realistically can study as hard as I did the first time.

I’m not planning on applying this cycle to get more clinical experience, but I have a 3.9 GPA and am a male ORM in CO if that provides any extra con
