With SimCity 5 being for sale on Steam will the game require the Origin CLIENT to run or just an Origin account?

I have not installed the Origin client on my PC yet and have no plans on doing so. I would still very much like to play the game so I guess my question simply is, If I buy the game on Steam will I be able to launch the game from Steam, Log into their servers on my Origin account I made from their website and entirely skip the Origin client all together?
