I have one of the cheaper retro handhelds (Miyoo Flip) and am interested in trying to game Myst. Since it has been re-released about a thousand times, surely one of them must be worthwhile on a machine that plays up to Ps1 well?

I know, Myst was released on Ps1. But apparently that's not a great version. I'm interested in what's a good version to play on this kind of device.

Is anybody able to have a good experience with HDMI output with SpruceOS? Either the image is massively stretched, or it appears as a small box in the corner of the screen (possibly depending on which monitor it's plugged into?). Also I have to fully reboot the console with HDMI plugged in just to get it to show up on the monitor.

I've also been having issues with the home key not working during games (but fine in the SpruceUI), but this may be an unrelated issue.

Is there another firmware with better HDMI functionality? Will this ever be fixed?

Hi, looking for some help. I really want to be able to use bindings like C-1, C-2, ... in Neovim. However, I am aware that with many terminals C-1 sends 1, C-2 sends C-@, and so on.

With just Neovim and foot terminal, it works with no additional configuration - hitting C-1 activates my C-1 binding in Neovim. However, when running tmux, it doesn't work.

I believe the solution will lie in some combination of the following lines in my config

set -ga terminal-features 'foot*:extkeys'
set -g extended-keys-format csi-u
set -g extended-keys always
set -g xterm-keys on
set -g allow-passthrough on

The only thing that makes a clear difference is extended-keys always which

I've since uninstalled it. Pop X11 works fine, but on Wayland there are some overwritten keyboard shortcuts, the desktop has a weird orange border, and there are icons on the desktop I can't remove (probably some other stuff I've not encountered yet as well).

Anyone know if the Pop wayland config/data is in a convenient place for me to delete and start again?

I'm on pop_os been launching swaywm from the tty with no problems. However, I want to start sharing my computer with my non-techie wife and don't want her to have to worry about switching ttys and so on just to login to a Cinnamon session on her user. So I added a desktop entry and enabled wayland sessions in gdm, so I can launch sway from there.

It seems to work okay, but...

  • the prompt takes a few seconds to appear when I launch any terminal
  • my edit config command has stopped working bindsym $mod+Shift+c exec kitty -e nvim ~/.config/sway/config. It says
Failed to launch child: nvim
With error: No such file or directory
Press Enter to exit.

Any idea what is going on here? I

We're basically given a list of LOs, a folder of resources that are often barely related to the LOs (often just free resources provided by a charity or other institution). We get no training. We do hit all the required statutory topics, but the kids don't take it seriously at all; the resources are mostly boring and condescending, every lesson is a battle to get them to engage with the topic (even "spicy" topics like sex and drugs)

It's super draining to teach, which is a shame because I recognize the importance. My training schools were better and had a more structured and bespoke curriculum and resources.

Just out of curiosity really. I used default Pop_OS desktop for a couple of years and had installed extensions to make the workspaces work more like i3wm. Then I got a monitor to plug into my laptop and disliked the way multiple monitors worked compared with i3wm, so I switched to sway (Wayland i3wm port)

It's not too bad. If you're going with a more niche desktop like sway I think you're generally better served by Arch because of better package availability. I still sometimes switch to the default pop desktop for getting certain things done.

Yesterday I was on the receiving end of road rage. I just moved to a new street which is essentially three cul-de-sacs connected in a cross shape. Where they meet is a circle of grass and bushes surrounded by a kerb about 8m across.

Here is an image from google maps (skewed angle to hide the road name) https://ibb.co/Rz71hTh

So far, I have been using this like a roundabout, circulating clockwise. However, it is not signposted as such. As I approached it yesterday evening, I checked it was clear to my right but then had to hit the breaks as a car came at me anticlockwise, trying to turn in to the road I was coming from. The driver did not have time to stop and instead had to cut across me a

Due to issues with laptop suspend/sleep, I downgraded to kernel 6.0.x

Now whenever I try to update repos with dnf I get the error

Error:
Problem: package kernel-modules-core-6.2.15-300.fc38.x86_64 from @System requires kernel-uname-r = 6.2.15-300.fc38.x86_64, but none of the providers can be installed
  - conflicting requests

Can this be resolved without restoring to the newer kernel? kernel-6.2.15-300.fc38.x86_64 is still installed

I can get the debugger to work but overall find with nvim-dap-python but finding it very annoying to make sure that my files are executed from the correct working directory, and if I've forgotten to activate the virtual environment before loading nvim I have to exit, activate venv, and then reload. At this stage it feels less hassle to just large PyCharm and use the debugger there.

Would be interested in reading dots of anyone who uses this feature/plugin well.

Edit: thanks to everyone who has provided helpful comments so far.

When I run elinks browser in the regular terminal, the page retains some styling (font colours, background colours, etc) and the interface has colors. This is useful for reading online documentation as often source code listings retain their syntax highlighting. In tmux I only get the terminal default foreground and background. As far as I can see all my other cli apps display colors correctly. Have tried two different terminals (alacritty and gnome), same thing.

I have tried screen-256color and xterm-256color.

Anything else I should try?
