Hi - First time poster so if I'm doing something wrong, be gentle.

This story began as a discussion with some in my family and slowly evolved into a story. I've never thought much about writing, but I enjoyed it and family and friends seem to have enjoyed reading it - But I figure they kinda have to so thought to share here for a bit more of an 'honest critique'. Thank you for reading.

Title - A bedtime story...Or is it?

Genre - Political Satire

Word Count - 1000

Once upon a time, a Supreme Leader sipped his tea and contemplated how he could continue to facilitate hate and division between the people of the Great Country - The country that stood in the way of ascension.

The Supreme Leader reflected on previous efforts. With pride, he considered the overwhelming success of programs to steal technology, manipulate trade, and spread influence. His smile grew as he reflected on his decades long effort to socially engineer youth, first through University, and now with Social Media.

One of his most successful influence programs involved birth tourism. The wealthiest of hi

Quoted over $500 to get a key FOB from two Toyota dealers. Local locksmiths say Toyota hasn't released the programming software for this year yet and no clear idea when they will. Anyone have any luck finding a less ridiculously expensive option for an extra key?

I'm planning on pulling a large chunk of IRA contributions. I'm not yet 59.5 and have had the account for well over 5 years. I know that 'Contributions can be withdrawn at any time without tax implications or penalties', but I'm hoping I can get some detail on how exactly that works when it comes time for taxes. I've transferred between a few different brokerages and have a basis carryover that I can't directly determine. I have personal notes and intend to withdraw less than I contributed regardless.

My question is will Vanguard send me a tax form of some sort indicating how much I've contributed and attesting that the amount I pulled is below that limit? If not, do I need to report a

I sold a rental home for a modest capital gain of $100k last year, and for me, its a pretty hefty tax hit - Other income aside, I'd estimate a good $20-25K of the $100k going to Uncle Sam. After $22kish to sell, a bit eye opening what I will actually end up with - Still a good 4 year investment, but far less than my naïve initial estimates when deciding to sell. Anyway, now I'm considering selling my primary home and use proceeds from both to buy a new home. Wondering if anyone knows if there is any tax break that I might be able to take advantage of, or at least set my self up a better better for taxes next year. Some google research this morning only really talks about one for one - Basic

I enjoy reading updates from folks that have previously FIRE'd. I'm struck by the variety of paths, annual spend targets/budgets, what folks do with their newfound free time, and the mental challenges that go along with it.

Hopefully my story will add to the variety found here, and some will find it interesting or even inspiring.

My wife and I FIRE'd just over two years ago and are in our early 50s. We achieved our version of FIRE mostly with only my modest income from a military/government career and simple low-cost mutual fund investing starting in our late 20s when I was a young enlisted with four kids. Investments really took off when I retired from the military at 26 years as an offi
