Kayaking around lough Corrib

God, it's lovely out

Been living for years right by the Corrib and never took advantage of it, which is a bit sad. After looking at the various options to change that, I finally went for a chill sit-on-top kayak and started paddling around the local waters. These are a few shots from the Corrib/Ballyquirke area. I'm no photographer and that's just the phone camera, but thought some looked nice and displayed the cool variety of the landscape/waters even in such a small section of waterways. I couldn't catch any of the many kingfishers on camera, but at least the donkey was more cooperative... If anyone's been thinking about chill kayaking on our lakes and waterways, do yourself a service and try it out. It's a gr

Grabbed Ker Nethalas not long ago, and am about to dive in for a first run. I have a few very basic questions though, mostly related to poison:

  1. How does Poisoned work? The condition description mentions that it is cumulative, and can be resisted each turn. I can't find how the cumulative part works however. So my understanding would be that a Poisoned(X) creature makes an Endurance check each turn, remains Poisoned(X) and takes X poison damage on a success (with the damage table converting that to actual damage as usual), or becomes Poisoned(X+1) an takes X+1 poison damage on a failure? Or maybe it always stay at Poisoned(X) and the Endurance check only determines if the damage applies t

Hi folks. Came back to the game after a long while and had a go at the Unfallen which I hadn't before. I'm trying to get my head around when exactly the peaceful conversion option is available and its cost. I grew vines in my isolated corner, but couldn't do so on a system with a pirate base. So ok, no vines on hostile system. Pirates later got destroyed and I expanded vines to the nearby Riftborn systems I was at peace and allied with. Vined systems, no option. Fair enough I didn't have the tech unlocking Peaceful Conversion. Got the tech, no icon. Apparently, it doesn't appear in alliances, fair enough. Dropped the alliance, still at peace, got the icon with very expensive influence cost a

He stares at me with an uncustomary bored expression. This isn't looking good.

- And why do you want this job?

- Well, it is a tremendous opportunity for me to work on the...

He violently slams his fist on the counter, shattering the glass underneath.

- Ah for Brebus' sake, cut it will ya?

- Err, what?

- Do you really believe the fedking bullsh*t you were about to spew me?

- Well, I... err... yes?

His head looks down for a while and he seems to be crying. Damn, where do I go from here?

- I mean... I don't even understand why you're advertising the position. I don't personally know you but... That's like, the dream job!

So, I knew about The Talos Principle. It was sort of a puzzle game, interlaced with philosophical musings about life, gods and AI. The wife having played it for a while, I'd seen it on her screen and everything always looked really samey (the Roman ruins world). As for the storyline, anything to do with life and AI tends to trigger my cringe fanfic warning lights. So I never got pulled into trying it.

Fast forward a year or two, and I notice it available for a few quid during the Steam summer sales. For some reason, I'm in the mood for a puzzle game, and well, the wide acclaim for it probably means it does something right so in I went. A couple weeks in the real world, 28 hours in-game and

Got invaded last night by what was the first fully invisible invader I ever met. Not the ghost-like untrue ring or hidden body, but completely invisible. I could lock on to him after guessing his position once he started hitting me and see the lock on dot as well as the name tag, but nothing else. Tried to fight for a while as he toyed with me until I got bored and sat to wait for the kill. Got a couple screenshots but don't think there's any point naming the guy. I just wanted to know whether that's a known bug or a known cheat?

edit: consensus seems to be that it happens randomly, so likely a bug. Cheers folks. :)

So, been enjoying the Return to Drangleic since yesterday, as my new green dreadlocked dex/hex self. Met more people already than in my entire previous walkthrough, it's great. Highlights include being summoned 3 times by the same guy for Ruin Sentinels (he fell into a hole on the first, I died jumping down the platform the second, third time was the charm), being summoned by a Giantdad for Ornstein only to be later invaded and roflstomped by the same Giantdad, but my highlight so far was being summoned by those O&S cosplayers... and being summoned by them again right after when

Such a beautiful ceremony, thank you Dark Souls 3. I was on my way to it when an Aldrich faithful invaded as I was climbing towards the rooftops. Had him on my heels along the whole rooftop run between the archers, made it in with just enough time to grab the ceremonial implements and quickly undress before dashing to the altar, taking a single hit on the way, while a second invader joined us right in time to witness the vows.

And it all finished with me being backstabbed by the first invader on the altar as soon as the cutscene cut off, although I had enough life to take a few dance s

part 1 is here but for the most important bit: I'm running the game for the first time with as close to no spoilers as I can. So please, avoid spoilers in the comments or flag them out properly so that only people really wanting to see them can do so, cheers. :)

Last time I dropped out, I had begun exploring the Darkroot Garden section above the Basin. A group of hostile human and ghost NPCs was however blocking my progress through the area. Checking out my current stats and gear, I notice I can now wield the Black Knight Sword which is a big improvement in damage, although being excruciatingly slow to wield. G

Hi folks,

Just got into Dark Souls a week ago after DS3 speedruns at the past couple GDQs got me curious about the series. I've never been terribly into the whole dark/demon/undead thing but the combat attracted me. Now I've played a fair bit of Monster Hunter on both Wii and WiiU, and the combat looked rather similar, as did the oversized foes. The famed difficulty of the series attracted me too, making it sound like a challenge it'd feel good to overcome. Having received DS2 SotFS from Humble Bundle, I considered starting there, but with the mixed opinions about it, I thought I'd try to go at it in order and picked up the original. This is a report of how I'm do

So, I've had my eye on Offworld Trading Company since even before it went into Early Access, but a combination of lukewarm reviews and pretty high release price ended up with me sitting it out. Right now though, it's sold for much cheaper in the Steam sales, at around €8 for the base game or about €15 for the base game and its Jupiter's Forge expansion, so after watching a couple more let's play videos, I thought I'd go for it, and picked the game+expansion package. Fast forward a few days and I have now forked out an additional €16 for the bundle with the rest of the DLCs. I'm loving it.

The premise of OTC is the exploitation of offworld natural resources, in the form of a real time strate
