My wife prohibited me from wearing a certain pair of shorts because it showed off my bulge too much. That has never occurred to me, so my response was, "No one's paying attention"

She responded by saying, "We all look"

Is that a thing? Or does my wife look at men's junk more than average?

Me: Relatively young, 20 years experience primarily in the fine dining/country club sector... I occasionally moonlight with a catering company for extra cash and, it's fun.

Exec Chef of said catering company, also has a fine dining and club background. Badass. I'd go to war for this man.

Head instructor of the community college culinary program, also an old timer badass.

Exchange:

Exec: "You know what they say {teach} those that can't do, teach"

Teach: "Yeah, and those that can't teach do catering"

The Worldstar level of eruption after that was something I can never recreate, and I will hold it close to my bones forever.

I don't have good teeth. Bad teeth are evidently debated by whether or not it's genetic or environmental. But for the sake of simplicity. I'm gonna go with both. For both of those reasons, I have bad teeth.

I don't smile. I choose my foods carefully. I eat delicately, making sure to only use my good teeth to do the chewing. This is my every day hell. If all of your teeth still work well, and you're not perpetually afraid of breaking them on even the most inconsequential seeming thing. Be grateful.

You become afraid to eat. You settle into despair and hopelessness. You start withering away. You start drinking. You stop missing food because you get all your calories from alcohol. And if you

So, my son is highly allergic to fish and mollusks. Very sensitive. He can't even have fries from the same fryer as fish. Oddly enough ultra processed things like oyster sauce and fish sauce are fine.

When we want Chinese takeout, Panda Express is the only place that we can guarantee to be safe, because quite frankly. I don't trust your typical mom n' pop Chinese joint to be able to guarantee against cross contamination, with the nature of how wok stations operate.

But, oh my God I am so sick of Panda Express. I was just posting here to see if anyone has any similar experience and if there are options available to us.

Hopefully this is a niche enough question that the mods will let it's vagueness slide this time.

I'm specifically talking about West African food, I have some preliminary knowledge about Ethiopian, Egyptian, and Moroccan...

But I'm interested in learning more about the West African region, think Ghana. I know about fufu, egusi, and okra stew. But without an African grocer in my area, I was curious if anyone had any preferred sources for specialty ingredients I would need to get started.

So, this is something I think I've only ever had from grocery store Chinese takeout counters, like at a Raleys. It's a sweet and savory, bright red pork. But it's not char siu, but the flavor profile is faintly similar. And it's definitely not "sweet and sour" either, because there's little, if any noticeable vinegar to it. It's fried pieces of pork, rather than a sliced roast. It's slightly saucy, a little glazey, but super greasy. I think I've seen it called Peking pork, even though it's obviously very much not a traditional Peking preparation.

My Google Fu is not giving me much to go on, but I was wondering if anyone here might have some familiarity with the dish I'm talking about.

My favorite taqueria closed down, and it was 90 seconds from my front door... Everywhere else I've tried is not to my standards.

What place has solid rice and beans. Flavorful salsas. And be it a taco truck, when and what days are they there?

I personally am very pro-Luigi. This may ruffle some feathers. But my 8yo came out of the blue asking about him...

I said, "Just because he killed a bad person, doesn't make him a good person. He still killed somebody when it wasn't his job to do that. So, Luigi is still a bad person too."

I was totally blindsided, but I like it to think I handled it okay. This is just such a hot topic, I thought I could open it up as a place of discussion about these sort of things.

My son has been coming home from school saying he hates recess, because no one will play with him. We've tried giving him advice about how to engage with his peers, "just ask", "be polite and friendly", "listen to others". But he claims other kids just say, "No" when he asks to play with them. Without being on the playground to witness, I can't say for sure what's actually happening. But by the sound of things, my kid is very unpopular.

He's very intense, and very intelligent. So I imagine he may have a tendency to be a bit of a know-it-all. He can be very hyperactive at times and not know when to quit. Kids have evidently called him annoying.

And I'm just kind of at a loss for how to proc

New restaurant popping up, and the owners are giving me pretty free reign over the menu, outside of some very specific stipulations. One of which is that there are to be absolutely zero seed oils. The thing is, I won't have a deep fryer (or hood system for that matter). And it's a brewery concept, so creating the menu has been a little tricky, but nothing I can't manage.

Thing is, it's a fuckin' brewery, I almost need to have nachos, or chips or something... But my distributors are having a difficult time sourcing these items without seed oils. So, I come to you guys to ask if you know of any products like that (USF and CW both said no dice), or have any experience or suggestions with a sim
